reading back on this the sign up page was for the deadline so if a team didn't enter by then how can they enter the silent draw? by your own rules only those that entered in time for the draw can be in the silent auction or is this being bent so a few alliances ccp would like "goons" can sign up after the fact?

Trust me when I say this. CCP can make rules and bend / brake them anytime they want. There is no rhyme or reason to it. My only advise is to make a decent bid and hope you get it. These are not lawyers writing these rules and as such are able to say "what I meant was...."

GL to you though sir, I hope your team that followed the rules get in over a team that didnt.

i was clearly instructed to not never quote a GM or CCP guy.

But to help all people which are pressing F5 like a MOFO to know who is in:

I am a bit curious whether indeed 32 more teams have had the guts to take part in this silent auction. :-D
Last year there were already less teams in the normal auction then I would have thought... (because supposedly everyone thought they wouldn't stand a chance against PLs wallet, only they did not realize there are no 32 PLs) .

But now with a SILENT auction...?

I mean... THINGS could happen!
You might place a bid that is too low and then lose without being able to counter-attack. This must feel like jumping into an instalock gatecamp and die horribly.
OR you might place a bid that is too high - and THAT is almost like being scammed!

Conclusion: the standard EVE player reaction must be not too place a bid at all and leave us in a very embarrassing situation where there are not enough teams for the greatest event of the year.

Well you dont have to worry about not having enough teams. There are already over 64 that were in the random draw, and by the rules the ones that were not picked in the draw.... already have a 5 plex bid in the silent auction. This means that if noone else bid in the auction then CCP must "randomly" select the other 32 teams from the random draw pool that were not selected.

Well. Not exactly. I don't think that those who applied for the random draw will AUTOMATICALLY be regarded as bidding 5 PLEX.
At least it wasn't that way last year (then again... many things are unlike last year).

IF the bidding is a separate thing from the random draw, I would naturally expect like 20 teams to place very high bids. These are the big players with no money issues who are risk-shy and typically steamroll you with 3:1 numbers on a nullsec roam.

Then there will be a couple of cheap suicide-bidders who will offer just a few PLEXes, don't give a second thought to losing and just hope for their lucky shot.

And then there will be those who are not incredibly spacerich and afraid to undock... after all, team captains are also EVE players. :-D
The question is just: how many teams are there in each group.
(for entertainment purposes I left out the very few who will manage to hit the sweet spot with their bid. I think teams will either go for "participate no matter what" or "can't afford but try nevertheless")

I can confirm this. We are all out getting balloons and face paint for the Icelandic Independence day. There is a disappointing lack of extraterrestrials, though.

I will also confirm that this is not a problem we have. I won't say more than that today because I am evil. Evil comes with the referee title.

Not cool ... X

There is no reason to not be transparent and to not post the list as it stands asap. If anything, this kind of delaying reminds me of government tenders in my banana country, where the delay is usually required to fix the results - so the right corporation(s) wins, and dangerous opponents get outed on formalities.

On a related note - if anyone's interested and will PM me their bids, I'll start putting up a list of results and post it here later.

Honestly, I was expecting a twitch feed featuring Gargant reading his Evemail and checking contracts. I envisioned something like...

(Fade into CCP GARGANT sitting at a computer, drinking out of a CCP mug and wiping away the last meager crumbs of pastry from his lips. Behind him is an open window with the numbers 1-32 written on the sill in a very professional manner. CCP Soundwave and CCP Sunset are in the background arguing over the proper position of Tournament Cat in the frame.)

GARGANT: Welcome to the results of the silent auction for Alliance Tournament XI. I know we're all excited to know who's in, so let's get started. (Starts up Eve.) What is this launcher thing, anyhow? It's slow, really slow, and it doesn't remember my password. What's my password?

SOUNDWAVE: N00B, no one uses the Launcher. Open Eve from the .exe file. That should work until some random time we decide it shouldn't.

GARGANT: Ok, and the first mail is from--ohh, I accidently undocked instead of opening my contracts. What fool decided that button should be moved anyhow? Back to business then...first contract is from Pandemic Legion. PL bids 495 PLEX, a piece of carbon, and 2.5 Quafe Zero. CCP Sunset, please place the Pandemic Legion origami rifter above the #1 on the windowsill.

...

GARGANT: This is where things start getting interesting. (Camera shot of 32 origami rifters on the windowsill, labelled and decorated with alliance logos.) Next contract is from CCP Alliance, they bid Falcon's broken coffeemaker, 37 blank sheets of paper in a folder labelled "Eve logs", 4 dev corpses, and 3 non-existent NEO t-shirts.

SUNSET: Everyone be sure and go vote right now on the proper ISK value of CCP Alliance's bid! We'll draw one random name to receive your choice of any rookie ship in the game!

SOUNDWAVE: CCP Alliance's successful bid knocks some random alliance I've never heard of because they were formed after 2008 out of the tournament completely. Allow me! *takes out a lighter and sets origami rifter on fire* Better luck next year, anonymous people no one has ever heard of!

GARGANT: Nice, the CAStabouts bid. I've been waiting on this one for a while now. We've had enough communications back and forth that I'm either starting to root for them against all odds or want to see them knocked out of this once and for all. CAStabouts bids 8 PLEX, 3 vexors, and the promise that Boiglio will not either be a team captain or petition anything for at least 9 months. Guys, we have a new #1! That last promise has to be worth at least 600 PLEX.

SOUNDWAVE: Word.

==========

See what happens when you leave me dead time between news? Enjoy the holiday, but consider this a +1 to having all bids revealed as quickly as possible. Cool

Are you actually trying to get people to hate you? This laziness after the rules change for participation.

You set a date, now post the results. This is really unprofessional
