Oh, and Kim, You should really be silent.
You have no place calling anyone primitive while also calling for the genocide of another people.

What's wrong with genocide, brother?

Do you dispute that the cluster would be better off in the absence of Amarrians and their god?

They can exist all they want. So long as they refrain from trying to enslave and force their religion upon us.
They have yet to learn this lesson.

Please, I understand that you Republicans struggle with this but refrain from derailing your own thread with these trite genocidal sentiments and opinions of what the Amarr should and should not do. There are discussions of this nature should you wish to participate in roughly every other topic on this page.

They never will learn, brother. Never. No more than a fish can learn to climb trees, or a bird to burrow beneath mountains. To give up their slaver's faith, their god of convenience, is simply too much against their nature. They won't stop.

We can't stop.

Ever. Don't let yourself lose sight of the truth for the sake of a pretty fantasy where everyone stops being evil and all manage to survive at the end of the story. That's not our reality.

EDIT: And I am no Republican...

Maybe if some people stuck to delivery times a bit more precisely, other people wouldn't feel the need to get out the shock collars and enforce some adherence to key performance indicators. Just saying.

Did I just read that likes are seen as evidence for intelligence? But you can get likes for just linking to news stories, with no additional intelligent comment whatsoever.
Perhaps our standard for intelligent posts is too low? That would explain a couple things.

Edit: Oh, almost forgot, I also frown upon the phenomenon desribed in the OP, but I guess I'll have to live with it.

No.

The OP seems to feel as if his thread has some worth.

All it is is a whine. A Great Nothing.

This thread does have merit, though.

Especially since a new empty link thread is being posted for every single story development. Not just a new story, but as I said yesterday in the thread that got posted to discuss the story about the Gallentean senate being angry at the Minmatar for killing Broteau.

The very first actual post from that story is simply a continuation of the previous thread.

That is a much more pertinent issue Tiberious, but one that the original poster extraordinarily failed to convey. Starting new discussion threads on a by-update basis is somewhat excessive where an edit to the original post as well as a quote in the thread would suffice.

If I may? I've expressed this before, and I'll express it again. Relevant points:

In the first, some parties are interested in news as it happens, but may not regularly check the GalNet news feed. Posting links and quotes from the GalNet feed therefore increases the degree to which information is disseminated, and the speed at which it is disseminated.

In the second, a single news link focuses discussion; instead of having only one focused conversation, we risk having two, three, or four discussions if there isn't a clearly titled link post.

In the third, most of those who post news links will post news relevant to their interests. When I've done it, it's usually because I wanted to comment on the news in question, and provide immediate reference. This isn't universally true, but merely considering something of note is sometimes a fair basis for posting news.

As for likes, well. While some visceral, instinctive part of me basks in the adulation of my peers, the system is a better measure of a person's general presence than their popularity; someone who posts more frequently will also often have more 'likes' as a matter of course. At the same time, being able to see at a glance who has a significant presence on the GalNet forum is useful, as it allows you to weight comments at least a touch, or see if there is wide-spread agreement with a given statement.

It is what it is. I'd say it works well enough.

If you have an opinion, sure, state it and link to the source, but this fashion of posting threads with no real content is infuriating.

Have an opinion of your own!

Threads are made just to discuss news, because you can't do it there. Even a primitive jaijii like you should understand it!

Derin, you missed my point entirely, as did Kim.

Discuss the news all you want, but don't open a thread with an empty quote.
Have an opinion, share it, START A DISCUSSION.

simply quoting an article and linking to it is, quite frankly, incredibly lazy and devoid of any real purpose.

Hence my link to the newsfeed everyone uses. Go, read, gain an opinion, THEN link to the article and state the opinion you have drawn from the news.

It takes a little more effort on the part of the OP, yes, but if you're going to start a discussion, actually try to start one. Don't just copy someone else's words and leave it.
