Today I was in the middle of doing something in EVE. I went to my assets search and half way through typing my EVE client crashed. I turned it off then I tried to open my EVE client again and if I open it, I hear sound but nothing loads up. My entire computer slows as well.

What I found annoying was I was in the middle of doing something when this happened.

What is the solution to this?

My computer becomes unbearably slow if I open my EVE client and nothing will load up at all! It is still happening.

I cleared my cache folder to make my client download another - Issue still happening

I tried to bypass my launcher by launching EVE in my folder - Issue still happening

Remove my Transgaming folder and make my client create a new one - Issue still happening

There obviously is a problem somewhere but not where I tried to remove the issue.

Still no reply yet? I'm sure these problems are meant to be more important than 'Stuck', because I can't even access EVE. What?

Every now and then something like this happens to me. I click on the eve client, nothing happens. Oddly all I got to do is keep trying. After about 5 to 10 tries it seems to fix itself.

I have found a fix.

I moved my entire EVE Library which is in the applications support outside onto my Desktop (This is to stop the client reading it and find the file).

To find the EVE Library folder. It is here.

Username < Library < Applications support < Simply drag EVE Online into your desktop to stop the EVE client reading it.

Simply delete the EVE Folder or keep it depending if you want to keep chat logs etc. Doing this does reset your EVE overview, settings etc but it is a fix.

DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE IN YOUR LIBRARY FOLDER OTHER THAN THE EVE ONLINE FOLDER. You could cause unwanted resets on your applications if you touch other stuff in the Library folder.

Open terminal

Type "ps auxwww | grep wine" without the quotes, press enter/return

You will see one or two lines, one looking like this:

username 12345 11.5 23.7 345123 2345 ?? S 8:34am /Applications/EVE Online.app/…/wineserver

Now type "kill 12345" where 12345 is the first number in that row.

Do "ps auxwww | grep wine" again to make sure the wineserver is gone, then start EVE Online as normal.

Let me know if this helps!

I can't see the 12345 part however my client is working as normal for now.
When the problem reoccurs again I'll do this and try if it works.

Is there any fix to this which does not involve nuking your files only to have them nuked the next day?

First: save your overview. In game use "export overview" option from the top left corner of the overview where the options are. Give it some odd name and then search for it in that library folder. Make a copy of it. Also note just where it came from so when you do delete the library folder you know where to place the saved overview in the new one.

Next run the repair tool.

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=112998

Also do all maintenance on your computer. Run permissions repair, leave it running overnight so the chron jobs get done, and reboot.

Next get the clone maker.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Multiple_clients#Using_the_EVE_Clonemaker

Make clones of the client, one for each of your accounts. Once you have the clones run the main install once, just so it makes a library folder. From then on run the clones. If a clone goes bad, copy files from the library of the main install into the library of the clone until you find the bad one. (Ive only had to do this once in the last several years, so I do not remember which files. Also I think copying the entire library and renaming it did not work, but you can try that anyway).

Edit: When CCP does an update you will get an odd message about downloading it when you run a clone. Do not do the update that way. Quit and run the main install. That will also update the clones (as they just reference files in the main install). Quit the main install once the update is done and go back to running clones.

Just remember that if you have Gatekeeper (I.e.: Mountain Lion) installed you can right-click Clonemaker, then hold down Ctrl while clicking "open" to get the option to run this I trusted and unsigned application. Do not turn off security settings, just use the one-time bypass for this application.

A better write up about this Gatekeeper bypass here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5290

I did the clone maker. My main client died, I move onto my clone client and it also died.

So no this did not solve my issue. No bug report reply, no nothing. Its been over a week without a bug report reply.

There are files at ~/Library/Caches/com.transgaming.EVEOnline/
Did you delete them too or just the stuff inside ApplicationSupport?

There is an application called "AppCleaner", it finds most of the files you want delete.
You can download "Onyx" and delete System- /Usercache and TempData.
Thats the fastest and easiest way to do that. Hope it'll help.

lol, I looked and did not find the com.transgaming but I did have one for City of Heroes, its been dead for about a year now?

When a game keeps giving me problems I usually come to the conclusion that it is something on my end, and I usually find that deleting everything and redownloading a fresh install fixes those problems.

This last patch finally forced me to do that with my eve mac, and now things are working as they should except for corrupted icons which is server side problem.

Have you downloaded a completely fresh install, preferrabley the full 7 gig file and not the patcher, and use that as your basis for the clone? Because if you are just copying over your old client it wont fix anything. Because the issue is not with the library files, but the program itself.

I love my Macbook Pro and the OSX series, but I have come to hate the iProducts like iPhone, iPad, etc. So am I considered an "Apple Fanboy" or not?
