I looted some scientists from a Srpentis Research Lab, and I saw they're for sale for approx 1mil each in Contracts. What are they for?

Officially. there is no role for them in the game. The same goes for Janitors, Exotic Dancers, Tourist and a wide range of other civilian types. The only people type that has an official role in Eve are Slaves, which can be sold on the Markets in Amarr friendly space, and I believe there are some missions for Minmatar Corps which want you to 'free them'.

Those on the Contracts markets are probably people trying to catch newbies out by selling useless junk. Though there are also some 'odd' people playing Eve who like to collect 'oddities' like them as they go along, so there is a small and legitimate market for them too.

Not 100% sure on this but i think there will also be NPC buy orders for things like that. If i remember correctly you can actually make some ISK by buying them from NPC's in one place and selling them back to the NPC's in another.

Granted im also one of those weird people that keep all the junk i get so havent actually looked into selling them (have 12K janitors or something stupid like that and still my hangars is a mess! Lol ).

Some people buy random NPCs to place into cargo when they PvP, nothing quite say FU like your opponent finding out you have a cargo full of janitors and the homeless, instead of a decent loot drop.

NB the loot fairy has a perverse sense of humour, if there's a choice between shiny faction mods and worthless NPCs in your cargo, the NPCs will be the only things that drop.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Yep, if it's a 50/50 on a A-type EANM or a male exotic dancer you're goin home with a new cabana boy.

I'm working on my private army... I have a bunch of militants, some marines, some slaver hounds - and just last week I got a vet for the hounds! Win!

That is definitely me. I collect civillians because I can. I am slowly trying to find out how many types there are. From a role play stand point it is nice to have people that work for me. Cool

One of the lvl 4 delivery missions has 4000m2 of homeless. That’s a year supply!
