Radar Sites

I'm using Sisters core scanners, Astrometric rangefinding is now level 3, and i have 2 small gravity capacitors fitted, yet ive still only managed to find combat sites and a couple magnetometric signatures in 6 different systems now (security 0.6-0.8, amarr space).

I will only be hacking, so I'm looking for Radar sites specifically. Is there anywhere in specific I should be looking for radar sites? Or any tricks for tracking down radar sites primarily? I absolutely love the idea of exploration and scanning down sites, yet I don't seem to be making much progress in it. I've watched the CCP scanning guide so I am pretty sure i'm using the correct scanning method.

Thanks,

Will

Your skills have no effect on what types of sites you can find. Simply put: scan more. Look at maps to build yourself a route that you can traverse - It's probably a good idea to find less trodden paths and quiet dead-end systems.

Since you are in highsec, that's where most of the probers are. Competition is fierce mostly and especially so on weekends. Radar sites are very easy to do and give a decent amount of loot for the effort so most people will do them.

Six systems is not very much. Keep looking. And on the bright side you didn't find systems full or wormholes which is what many people complain about.

Thanks this is helpful, I'll take a look at some maps :)

I forgot to mention I did find 1 unstable wormhole, but thanks, I will continue looking

Train all exploration skills at least to lv 4.

Expand your search area to encompass about a dozen systems.

Set up a few different areas to search.

Try searching at different times.

Look in systems that have low population count, low amount of jumps, etc. Check starmap stats.

If looking just for Radar sites, this might help speed things up.

Radar, Mag, Ladar and Grav sites will all show type at 25% signal strength. Once you get the type showing, just ignore that signature if it's not a Radar and work on the next signature.

Any signatures that show 'Unknown' after you get above 25% signal strength is either a w-hole or a combat site. Those will show type at 75% signal strength.

Good luck

Thank you very much! I've just searched 5 more systems and still only found unknowns. Not giving up yet though.

Find yourself a pocket of low security space that has low occupancy. If you go the dotlan site, you can get stats on jumps in the system over time. If you find a good low sec pocket, you can have much more success with your scanning. Good luck!

Weekends are notoriously bad for Radar sites.
