How good is EVE for PvE focused solo play?

You know the Atari 2600 or say, the Commodore 64/128, or perhaps NES 16bit & Turbographics 16?

Eve's 'solo' PVE environments and these consoles share alot in common, yet mostly the Atari/Commodore era games. However you don't honestly get the opportunity to use a joystick much. It's mostly point and click. Not unlike an Apple IIgs running microsoft office in the prototype System 1.x GUI Apple had for a while.

Now replace the animated, simplistic icons of the Atari with predomently Red crosses in addition to white & yellow icons too.

If you like this kind of gaming environment, eve's solo PVE will keep you enthralled & relaxed for hours! If you're lucky, - days & months even!

Ok, i'm sorry (kinda).. this is New Citizens.

Ideally you're better off being social with others when doing anything in Eve. The Solo PVE is horrible, but if you play with a group of friends/corpmates you'll enjoy eve, in general infinitely more than if you try to run it as a solo PVE mmo.

yeah but this is the kind of multiplayer co-operation is something that I've never been comfortable with. I'm fine with using chat with random players. But close co-operation with people I know know either by chat or worse VOIP is something I just don't want to try.

And no I can't get my friends to get into the game. Most of them don't do this kind of thing.

If your cool with people trying to kill you and want to do something fun and make money solo, try your hand at lootng and salvaging other peoples wrecks from pvp fights in low or null. Probing skills, covert ops, and salvaging is all you need. You can add hacking and archeology skills to do sites in between. Can salvage sleeper loot in wormholes too that other people were farming. You will need patience and be okay that you probably won't be making high isk/hour but it can be thrilling and if you are carefull, you will make plenty to replace ships over time. Some people like ninja ratting in hostile space too. Basically killing npc ships in anomalies or asteroid belts with the added risk of people possibly passing by your system and trying to catch you or actively hunting you down. Just throwing some ideas out there.

Great analogy but you would have to add ax murders running around the bar, everyone around you in the movie blasting beer farts, someone outside the supermarket with a bullhorn offering to double groceries if you send him what you have in your cart right now and little bastard children throwing sticks in front of your bike at the park.

That is a matter of being at the wrong place or being there at the wrong time.

I wouldn't want to attend to certain gas stations at dusk where groups of partially drunk young folk gang together to occasionally yell at passersby.

Also there are farting drunk misfits at some corners just around supermarkets.

There are young parents yelling at their misbehaving children - in a disgusting manner - at the grocery store.

In some supermarket I have also witnessed some slightly drunk young man drop a beer bottle by accident only to get called names by his buddy and subsequently get hit by him on the head with another bottle leaving a bleeding wound.

Your turn.

I think you should correct your views about eve by visiting some just slightly less crowded places besides the trade hubs.

So after 3 pages we have all come to the conclusion that EvE and real places are both multiplayer with stinky solo play (choking the bird versus pounding some poon comes to mind)...that and you got to see a three stooges act with a ghetto knife in a grocery store.

hard to get a good opnion from the forums .. about solo pve play anyhow

most of the posters on the forums are agresive pvp trolls - so you cant really expect a balanced opinion from them only derision and heavily biased diatribes.

unless thats what you were looking for, in which case you came to the right place.

History is the study of change.

I find the PvE content in Eve to be astonishingly bad as compared to any other modern MMO. The only time the PvE itself is fun is when some corpmates and I get together to blast through L4s together while talking on TS about why XBox One is total fail. Otherwise the only reason to do the PvE is to get isk to pay for the ships you want to fly and those that need replacing.

Seriously, I'd rather kill Darth Malgus every night in SW:TOR than solo Eve's PvE... except... what makes Eve's PvE special is the fact that at any time another actual player can warp into your location and pee in your cheerios. Sometimes they are ninja salvaging your wrecks. Maybe they're trying to steal the loot from the can you just hacked. Or maybe they are there for a little ganky panky. Then it gets exciting, even if you wake up in a clone vat, its fun so long as you have a good attitude about it.

In summary: I personally think you'll get very bored very quick with just the PvE. Its the players in Eve that make New Eden fun and exciting. Do things that get you involved with them.
