You should start looking into joining one when you feel ready for it.
Some will suggest that you wait for a few months, some will say you should wait for 2 hours, some will say you should wait until you have an ok understanding of the basic game mechanics. It changes from person to person thus its not a question that can really be answered for you, sorry Sad

Basically, if you feel that you are at a point were you feel secure in moving on from the starter corp, then that is the right time for you to look into joining one.
When you are at that point i would advice you to read over this guide which will (hopefully) help you when you are at that point and make your search a bit easier Smile

Good luck and welcome to EVE Big smile

Can't Seem To Get Into It

If I had it to do all over again, I would join BNI as soon as I figured out how to move around in space and apply to a corp. Learning is so much easier when you are having fun. Winning / losing is best done with friends.

I am going to start keeping a scorecard starting right now between you and Ace to determine who is the best at linking the guide first. Right now Nightcrawler 1 Ace 0 Blink

To the OP, join a corp whenever you are ready. There are plenty of corps who will be happy for you to join. Figure out what you enjoy doing and find a corp which focuses on that. Or just start looking at the recruitment thread and in other places and see if you see a corp you would enjoy being in. If you feel you want to learn more about the game there are several teaching corps. If you want to PvP there are plenty of those corps as well. There really is no right or wrong answer.

Eve Uni is good if you've never played an MMO with guilds before. If you have the basics of "this is a guild chat window, this is a private chat" and aren't completely inept at game mechanical stuff like doing tutorials and remembering what button does what, it's probably not optimal for you.

I mean, it's still a corp, and it has people that do things, but if you know the MMO basics I'd recommend following your nose, and just avoiding null sec corps for a bit. Every other type of corp can handle newbies if they tell you they're willing to do so.

As for the scoring card: Ace = J'Poll. Problem is that J'Poll has been sent on a mandatory holiday from the forums by CCP.

I dtill have the best victory by beatin NC to it in the community channel that she is part of yesterday.

Now you are in an NPC corporation, that has 11 % taxes, if I am right. I've created my own to get 0% taxes. Otherwise I, as a not bloodlusting newbee, would stay in NPC corporation. Cause there is no danger to get into the war. If you are hunger for some PvP action, player's corp is a must. So I would say - change corporation when you are ready to war.

Heh, I was gonna ask if you are J'Poll's alt but I thought "why would he suddenly switch to different toon? maybe just went for a break from Eve and finally other people have a chance at helping newbros" :)

Since discussing moderation is frowned upon I will have to check J'Poll's poasting history because I am curious about that mandatory holiday.

You won't find the reason I got banned, CCP deleted that thread completely.

*Not questioning their moderation, just giving the reason why you won't find the reason*

Well. Technically you are excused. As it was around the time your better half was risking his life by waking you upP

I know but I didn't mention it because I figured it was bad form to out someones alt. Your signature gave it away, when I saw crazy dutch guy I figured it was you. Also I was seeing this Ace person come out of nowhere posting on all the boards all of a sudden and I figured something was up. Then I saw the sig and figured it out :)
