Client fails to Update

I've been having problems with the launcher lately, namely that it fails to apply patches to the client. I first tried downloading the launcher from the website, however, it couldn't install. So I tried downloading the demo from Steam and just running the game from there. When I launched it from Steam, (I tried running the eve.exe directly as well) the launcher failed to validate with Steam and could not apply the patch to the client. I tried running the repair.exe, which stayed on step 1 for over an hour. I reinstalled, tried manually installing, nothing has worked. When I did manage to start EVE from the launcher from Steam, while the EULA was still up, a pop-up notified me that the latest patch has been downloaded. I click 'Okay' and my game closes, and a patch is downloaded, which fails to install.

I have tried deleting it and reinstalling, running the .exe directly from the install folder as admin, nothing has worked. If it's any help as to what is wrong, I played a free trial a while back and just bought 3 months of time, I don't know if just having a pre-existing account and downloading the Steam demo has anything to do with it, but I hope someone can help.

If you could provide me with some logs I could take a look at them and try to figure out what is going wrong.

The logs should be under launcher/cache and in a file named something like launcher.2013.06.12.log

There appears to be some sort of connection issue. Are you using a firewall or a proxy of some sorts?
When you say that you are unable to reinstall the launcher, what do you mean exactly?

The only thing that could be considered a proxy on my computer is Hola for Chrome, and what I mean is that when I try to install the Launcher by downloading it from the EVE Online website, the installer freezes on the error I posted a screencap of above. When I install the demo from Steam, the launcher fails to validate and cannot apply the patch to the client.
