Log in through Steam with Mac client?

I just got this and convinced a friend to join up as well and we both bought it through steam. I have a PC and could use the launcher to log in through Steam, no problem. But on his Mac, his launcher doesn't look the same and he can't log into the game through it, he has to load up the game and enter a username/PW combo. But he doesn't have one of those because he is a Steam user. See the problem?

How do people that bought the deal on Steam (30 days + some in game goodies) log in? Everything is downloaded but we are stumped here.

Having the same exact problem with the Mac client. Windows launcher seems to work fine.

The Mac client is stil using the old launcher; you still log in from the client's (now generic) login screen. I would assume that's the reason.

Exact same problem here... those days are just counting down and no way to access the game unless you have a windows machine (or a password, which you don't get through steam).. anyone have an idea about who to contact? I have filed a petition without any luck...

Steam launcher for Mac isn't ready yet apparently. Probably later today or tomorrow. Found this on Steam:

A whole weekend without a word from CCP or Steam on this issue. The clock is ticking on all the players who purchased through Steam and can't login. I had to use my seriously underpowered PC to download the client just so I could login, create a character and create a petition. My toon looks better than I expected her to since I created her on all Low settings.

Either way, we deserve some kind of answer on this issue.

Well, it looks like CCP has given up. I just got this e-mail.

Hello there,

As you may know, the Macintosh client for EVE Online does not work on Steam and we simply do not know when the matter will be resolved, so we will now be offering the following alternative to our Mac users:

Log into the Account Management page linked below and create a new 14 day Trial account:

https://secure.eveonline.com/login.aspx

We will then manually upgrade the new account for you and add 30 days of subscription time to compensate for the days you already purchased on the Steam account.
Sadly we cannot replace the items that came with the Amarr Explorer Starter Pack, but we will be providing you with one PLEX on the new account to compensate for the loss of these items.
Please note that the PLEX is considerably more valuable than the items from the Starter Pack, but we feel that this issue warrants an apology from us and will therefore be offering the PLEX in question.
If you are not familiar with PLEX, you can read about them on the link below:

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/30_days_Concord_Pilot_License_Extension

Please let us know if you wish to take this alternative option and remember to include the name of the new Non-Steam account so we can initiate the changes.

Best regards,

So, it appears there will be no Steam Mac integration for the foreseeable future. And, if I start this new account, I lose everything I had there, but I gain a PLEX, which ain't bad.

What I'm not sure of is whether I log in with the Steam User account and then create a new trial and it gets upgraded, or I have to create a new trial from scratch. How do I make sure CCP knows I'm switching over from the Steam account I created?

Also, at least CCP got in touch on this issue. I never received any reply from the Steam ticket I filed.
