Increase Skill Training Speed Across the Board

Why not?
From speaking with RL friends who want to get into the game this is the #1 reason they won't play.. they refuse to pay for a game for a few months before being able to fly much of anything.

I can't see anyone being upset that their skills would train faster.. maybe just a 50% increase, can easily be implemented by increasing the base attributes.

I can't see this hurting the game in anyway and would help attract new players to the game.

Everyone would win with this.. new players would be able to get into better ships and use better modules faster and that would help stimulate the eveconomy and old players should be happy about it too.

Last year we got learning skills for Christmas.. this change would look pretty under the tree.

It takes what, two weeks to get into a BC? Maybe a month to get decent-ish support skills? I suppose if you're the type who won't undock without a T2 fit and level V skills in everything that might be a problem, but if you're, you know, playing for fun? Where's the problem?

one day this thread will begin with something other than "my real life friends".....one day. At least you didn't start off I couldn't find this in search.

But I will bite....so how were your friends looking to pay for a full fit BS, hac, recon, t3 in the first month of play not actaully playing the game? See if they mission well in the frigates, and then the cruisers that first month, they have the isk for a decent named fit BC. A BC that will make the money for that first BS or t3 or hac.

Like above said....tell your friends to play for fun. rifter, merlin, kestrel, punisher...fun ship to goof off in, learn how to play and when you go boom cheap as chips to replace. When some tard fc calls a fleet warp into a bubble trap....those are the days you go you know if this was gonna be a suicide roam t1 would be cheaper. One day your friends will experience this joy...tell them to enjoy their 10 mil fit cruisers while they can. The days of 160 mil mistakes (theirs or an fc's) come soon enough lol.

a 50% increase. does that mean all existing pilots get 100% bouns SP to spend on whatever they want or else it wouldn't be fair?
no that would destroy the balance, people will suddenly be able to fly cap ships and stuff, and we already have enough cap ships around.
If your friends don't want to invest the time nor can they wait, eve is not the game for them, tell them to go play WoW or something.

Your friends could simply cough up the money and buy characters from the bazaar. Obviously that would also mean that they'd lack the player skills that come along with learning the game from the beginning. Still an option that you could consider.

somewhat unrelated, but i financed ships for all my friends who were looking to start the game - admittedly it usually didn't go over 100mil total, but still, think of it as "it's better to give someone a fishing rod then to yap about how they should learn fishing on their own"

and tbh it was a problem for me as well, not being able to fly any decent pvp ship in amarr for a long while, i do hope that the upcoming AF may change that, creating somewhat slightly more useful AFs (especially that retribution)

I should have expected this 'bitter-vet' response.

Oh well, leave it how it is.. keep attracting less and less new players as the playerbase dwindles because you guys are worried that other people can fly the shiny ships you can and that the 2 week skill you had to train for now only takes 1.5 weeks.

At least you'll be able to fly your shiny ships alone in an empty universe ;)
