After 1.0.5 patch the probes seem to return to the ship automatically when they would expire. However, you seem to lose probes if they are out when downtime starts. Bug or feature?

Hi pilots,

I have an issue regarding the overview. When I use the radial menu on objects in the overview
it does not update correctly, i.e. when I'm at a station and I have ships in the overview and activate
the warp to gate with the radial menu on a specific gate, all the ships are not deleted from the overview
but they are greyed out.
Ugh

Using the overview in the traditional fashion works very well and as expected, though. Cool

Any idea on this pretty nasty thing, which populates the overview with heaps of greyed out ship entriesQuestion

fly deadly,
Tass.

btw, this is on an iMac, OS X 10.7.5

I think this is probably due to the overview freezing (by design) when there is any sort of mouse activity in it. The ship info stays but is greyed out because they are no longer on grid.

Sounds reasonable. So, do I simply have to wait for a fix
or is there any solution/workaround?

The new persistant navigation statuses (which are great!) are temporarily visible even when the action isn't happening.

For example, you warp to someone and click orbit as you land, but before you leave warp.
The 'Orbiting' status is visible for a while but isn't actually happening.
It disappears again once it realizes you can't orbit because you are still in warp, but by that time you may reasonably think you are orbiting when you are in fact sat still.
The status should not appear until you really are doing it, rather than just attempting to.

It's a similar situation to having to spam ctrl-click to lock, or spam to warp your pod away etc.
You don't know which attempt will work, or when it fails, at which point you are meant to click/try again.
So you just spam it until it happens.

What's up with the disconnects? My ISP is rock solid.

To put it plainly, are you having problems with your servers, or will this be an on-going issue?

And why do I have to click on an object that is already targetted four times in order to change the focus to it?

For some reason I can't look at ships that are in my fleet, I click the look icon but nothing happens. When I launch probes they don't appear anywhere near my ship on the solar system map even though they are on my overview, right beside me. When going anywhere that requires more than a couple jumps I get the gray screen some jumps, others I appear to be sideways in the jump tunnel, others look all glitchy and the "clouds" look like confetti of some description.

Sometimes when I jump into a new system my signatures in the scanner window do not update until I un-select and re-select show anomalies. Sometimes the single probe visible in a formation isn't the center probe, sometimes I can see all the probes with their arrows for moving them. Is there supposed to be some kind of undocking animation or is it really supposed to just be me staring at my ship in station for 4-5 seconds before it's magically in space? This is all for now.

Issues I've found recently:

- Sound get stuck (hang) when dualboxing.

When I warp on 1st account and then alt+tab to second char I still hear warping sound even when char on 1st account finished warping long time ago. Sound presist forever - very annoying. That applies to any king of sounds.

- Huge Gates have now 40km jumping radius, and 70km landing radius (when you jump through you can land 70km off gate) - Is that stealth nerf or intended?

- 4/10 and 5/10 DED Plexes very rarely spawn in lowsec, but spawn a few times in a row in same hisec solar system.
Again stealth nerf or intended?

- Random Eve client DC's when useing TS3 communicator. When im not on TS3 all seems to be fine. Both worked before Odyssey.

Issue 1: Target list working intermittently
When you click on the target list to, for example, switch to a new active target the mouse arrow sometimes bounces an inch down the screen for a split second then back up again and the target that you clicked on is not selected. What I think is happening is that Eve is trying to display a radial menu but it doesn't have room at the top of the screen so it bounces your cursor down until you have room to display the entire radial menu with the cursor in the center. However by that time you've already released the mouse button so it doesn't bother to actually draw the radial menu but it has taken your click to be below the target (because it moved the cursor so the mouseup event is now in the wrong place) so it doesn't select the new target.

This happens enough that I've started using the overview to select targets.

Issue 2: Socket closed errors
These are back for me, several times a day. It is possibly connected to a poor wifi signal on my end (I believe that this was a symptom of the last time there were lots of socket closed errors for people and you changed something to make the client more tolerant of them however I wasn't using wifi then so it didn't affect me.)

Issue 3: Processor meltdown
I'm sitting in station, with a fixed station background, no-one talking in local and eve in the background (fixed windowed mode) and Eve is using between 42% and 55% CPU. I change to window mode and CPU use is 26% to 53% in the background. I minimize window mode (or go full screen mode and alt-tab out and CPU use drops to 25% to 36%. Pretty sure that something is awry in optimization land when drawing a static background burns 20% of your CPU.

I then disabled Eve audio and CPU consumption in windowed mode dropped from 26%-53% to 19%-27%(!) Before I disabled audio I had music level zero and world level zero so I was listening to UI Sounds and UI Speech (of which there was none because I'm sitting in the station with Eve backgrounded and thus doing no UI.)

Issue 4: Drone window GUI
Several times since Odyssey the dronen window has gone through periods of being achingly slow (right click to lunch drones and the right click menu button takes four or five seconds to display.) Furthermore on a couple of occasions the drone health bars for drones in space have not drawn correctly (only one of the three health bars has appeared or a long red 'damage bar' has drawn across all drone health bars and off the right side of the drone box), or drew really slowly (like one drone's health bars draws every ten seconds even though all five drones are out and fighting according to the overview.)

Issue 5: Sticky Camera
On about four occasions the camera has stuck centered on my ship. Zoom in/out doesn't work. Mousing around doesn't change it. Using C to focus on objects you click on doesn't work. Docking and un-docking does fix it. I believe it may have to do with jumping through stargates.

They don't seem to care about that or at least don't have any plan to change that. They didn't reply to anyone mentioning that problem. Neither in issues nor in feedback thread or Features & Ideas subforum. :/

Blackscreen on any char undocking or logging in while in space. Stations seem to work fine. Rather annoying, tbh

edit: Somehow this has also affected the Mac-client and SiSi...

edit edit: Ok, so this appears to have been some account related stuck since two of mine are now working properly again. Guess I'll just have to wait it out then. Thankfully it has only cost me a shuttle so far.

Wading into a can of worms I'm sure, but here goes.

We ARE looking at this and considering what we can do. The back end system used by the client has changed which makes a "turn off" not a real proposition. We are looking at ways to reduce the nausea reaction some players are experiencing through other means.

It would be helpful if we got feedback about what in particular during the jump sequence is causing the most difficulty

I am sorry for those adversely affected,.

If I'm creating a new bookmark or editing an existing bookmark and paste something to the bookmark name using ctrl-V, the whole text gets automatically selected. This is horrible, since I typically continue typing the finalize the bookmark name. As I type the next character the selected text gets wiped out. Please remove the autoselection after ctrl-V and leave the cursor and focus in the correct spot.

The UI sounds are still not working properly. There is a drr-drr-drr sound that is very annoying, don't know what it's supposed to be for and the alerts for shield/armor/hull are still too low for any decent multi-client user to hear...

The last patch ruined the pseudo deep space probe feature of the scanner. Before it showed you the distance certainty under distance, instead of the actual distance. This could be used to work out what the signature was before probing.

Gief back please.

After the most recent patch the overview still hangs when using the radial menu. Ships which left the grid are still listed in the overview and stay there greyed out. This remains untill I hit ESC twice or hitting another nav-key (e. g. align-to) or jumping through a gate.
The overview works perfect when using shortcuts or the selected item buttons.

So, as long as the 'Radial Menu' text is displayed in the HUD the overview is populated with off-grid ships. This renders the radial menu completely useless although I'd really like to use it.

Any comments/suggestions on this? CCP?

fly space,
Tass.

Not sure if this is the correct place but, please consider two requests:

1) Can you please fix the selected window for drones....when you click the button for "engage target" or "return to drone bay" only one drone will respond. The sub-menus and hot keys still work but prefer to use the selected window. Have submitted a petetion (over a week ago) and still no response.

2) Please, please, pretty please can you map a shortcut key for 'open cargo' on the selected item window? It's so damn annoying when salvaging to have to click the wreck, click the open cargo button, then click another wreck, then click open cargo, then back to another wreck...it would be so much easier to just click on the wreck and then push a hot key...you've simplified launching and deploying probes...is it possible to make life a little nicer for the lowly salvager??????

Thank you for your consideration.
