Thanks. Looks like we've found a mistake in RU-client)

Great guide, hope you keep it updated as we add some more depth to hacking.

Agreed! Thanks for the guide!

I'm starting a new hacking specific corp and this is going to help my new recruits.

Emergent Locus Analyzer (the Tengu/Loki/Legion/Proteus Electronics Subsystem that also boosts probe strength) also gets +10 Virus Strength. If you want something to spend too much money on for hacking work, this seems like the obvious choice.

Unless you're in WH space, I scanned a site in a WH the other day and there were rats. Or am I missing something? Ugh

You're not missing something, they've kept the NPC's in for WH anoms. IE, they're not to be easily soloable in a single ship

If you've read the change logs, it is not required to say that wormholes sites have their sleepers around since that's the main income from wormhole sites.

But to be most complete:

- Wormhole exploration sites have Sleepers inside of them.

How is the loot in those areas? Better or worse?

Sounds like a good area for my new hacking corp to tackle.

It's pretty decent, but as mentioned a lot of the real money is in killing (and salvaging) the rats.

If you want to keep it clean, please add the new patch notes:

Exploration & Hacking

Fixed an issue with relic and data sites appearing empty or despawning prematurely.
Site signatures no longer disappear after the sites have been partially completed.
Now all cans that contain loot have to be hacked or exploded for the site to despawn.
Fleet logs now show loot gathered from scattered mini containers.
Fixed an issue with hacking where the use of Utilities caused problems with exploring nodes.

Highlighted change is the most important one ... If you leave the containers inside of the site, they will not de-spawn. Hence, less traffic income.

EDIT: fastest way to explode the containers is to open them and close them :). You will need around 10 seconds to destroy the unworthy ones.

So modules for ships now let me know if I am missing anything

Is there any reason to use the new modules that increase pinpoint, etc etc. I have not had any problems finding sites even in low sec/0.0 and wormholes?

Not really. As long as you have enough mids for prop mod, data and relic analyzers, and one cargo scanner, you're good.

Gasper wrote:
There are 2 different rigs that give you attack power for hacking. Is one of these rigs for relic and one for data? Looks like they are for both, but why are there 2 different kinds?

One for each (plus T2 variant) and they only add coherence.
Gasper wrote:
Anything else other then ship type/skills/and rigs that increase hacking stats for attack power and defense?

Besides those three, only the coherence implants.

What low slots would be good on a covert ops frig?

If you plan on being around stations, agility mods? If not, cargo expanders. WCS for low sec?

Racial Electronic Subsystem to five takes less time than Cov Ops skill to five, so you could get max strength more quickly that way.

It was said at Fanfest, and written again someplace by a Dev, that rats will spawn after a hacking failure.

Is that not happening now?

(Edit: I suppose it could be construed that the note refers to only initial rats, and more could still spawn on a failure, but no, that's not happening.)

When you win a mini game, the container will open and a lot of tiny containers will spawn and float off in different directions. There are 5 types of them:
- Data Container (data sheets, blueprints, skill books)
- Parts Container (decryptors, electronic parts, salvage)
- Materials Container (datacores, carbon, production materials, salvage)
- Equipment Container (hydrogen batteries)
- Scraps Container (scrap materials)

When you click once on any container it will be tractored directly to your ship and you'll receive its contents. When you double-click on the can you will approach the selected container. Those tiny containers live only for about 20-30 seconds, so you have to decide very quickly what containers you want to get.

Ahahaha ... this brings back a lot of memories from Elite. Killing Pythons and chasing the cargo containers they spew.
Truly an Elite origin. Thanks for the write up.

Thanks for the post.

You don't mention a Cheetah but since I fly only Minmatar ships....

150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S

Small Emission Scope Sharpener I
Small Memetic Algorithm Bank I

Any thoughts?

AC is purely for the mini-professions Cruiser that shows up if you fail the hack. As this is pure EFT then I don't know if that will take care of the Cruiser or not. Johnny Pew has a video up and has 4 Hob IIs attacking the cruiser. (http://youtu.be/PuezTFPFnws)

I'm considering a Loki for null exploration but since Strats can't enter many of the Low sec sites then a cheetah will have to do.

Yeah, I know what the patch notes say, but I'm sure I've seen a Dev post since they were posted saying that hacking failure provokes a rat spawn.
