"Don't touch the hair!" (Portrait rendering issue)

This may seem somewhat trivial, but for some players (like me) who spend a lot of time on their character portraits these minor details are very important. So anyway, I finally found a pose/lighting (etc) that suits my avatar perfectly. I painstaking position the head so that the ponytail is just visible behind, then update my portrait.

After the image is then rendered I keep finding it re-positions my avatar's hair. I set it to hang straight and clean down behind her head, but the rendering process seems to 'puff' it up and push it out to the side every-single-time. I've re-done my portrait with small changes countless times over the past week in an attempt to get around this, but every time the rendering system distorts my hair once again. You can see the pre/post rendering examples below ...

Is this a naturally (to-be-expected) side effect of EVE's rendering process and if so then any tips or ideas to get around it? Or is this an issue I could consider a graphical 'bug'?

CCP help! I just want a straight ponytail for goodness sake! Oops

Yeap, I'm having the same issues.

I've been trying to fix my hair and make-up for days! But it just keeps reverting back to the previous portrait.

I can't seem to find a solution Sad

CCP Devs, anyway users in situations like this can have a manual-rendering/portrait update done? Similar to the old portrait swap system?

I'm so serious about my ponytail issue I'd be quite willing to pay to have my portrait corrected manually, if that's what it takes Sad

Edit: Just carried out a further portrait update now to correct the hair once again - feel free to 'step in' and stop the rendering system from ruining my lovely hair with a manual render and I will love you fo'eva. Oops

A quick bump, because nobody likes having a bad hair day. Straight

Problem still evident. No feedback or suggestions offered so guess I'll file a bug report. What?

Although I'm sure it's not a 'bug' as such. Personally I think it's the hair layering, seems the base of the ponytail is 'anchored' to the middle-back of the avatar's torso. Hence moving the head twists the ponytail, whereas it should sit freely behind the head regardless of body angle - which it in fact does during portrait creation, however the render process attempts to correct it by inadvertently distorting it.

The new avatar system/captain's quarters was a really big deal when it first came out, please don't forget the 1% who actually enjoy these features, CCP! Smile

Space barbies (who like to blow things up) FTW. With **** hair my character is too embarrassed to undock Lol

I'm still trying to get it fixed.

Clearing caches doesn't seem to work. I don't know why it keeps retrieving the old portrait!!
