This is how you can inflext pain. Yeah , if i took the time to look back on what i wrote i'd spell it "inflict" BUT you understood what I'm gettting at and your insistance on spelling and having it easy to understand shows that you are locked to our convential ideals .

Goons might present themselves as merry men but for some personality wrinkle (shared with other non goons of course) if i were to type purpel instead of purple they'd think I was less smart.

No.. im less careful Purple is a concept not a word. words are mere contrivances to paint an idea. Troll means something different in a internet setting than a fair book but trlll means the same thing if i say "don't trll me".. unless you're not very athletic with word jumbles and stuff like that.

On topic.. to destroy the moral of certain opposition I could talk about aspects of how Scott Mcneeally founded pixar and used an alliance with Borland to take the screws to Sun . If I did so politely within a broader subject with more truth in it, this sort of incidence would stick with someone who worked for Sun after the game. It might bother them on the way to work. (Of course Scott Mcneally was chairman of Sun, Pixar , founded by Steve Jobs didn't have a heck of a lot of connection with Sun's main business... certainly they weren't selling a competing product of a major Sun assett.. and borland...well .. no connection at all .. maybe the lie would have been more irritating with Oracle because it would have been remotely more plausible.

EVE warfare not only deals with ships but with morale to fight.

The point i may have sunk your morale about the world in a way you might consider on the way to work or even montths later ("that ididot who thinks its ok to spell "purple" as "purpel" ) shows its much more effective than calling you a crude word for someone with a different sexual orientation .

This type of devious thinking is the type of thing that might break the will of the Goons to fight (might... like I said.. the something awful moderators were as beside themselves as your are)

It wouldn't just be spelling of course, but changing the very pattina of the universe around them with reminders of things like work and stuff like shooting your allies ships before they could get you etc.... but waging a war that produced very few killmails and was more about keeping a constant state of distraction would hurt more than a war where they had big losses but good fights.

I agree that this is a very effective form of trolling but I don't see how it would have any impact on GSF as an alliance.

If anything your behavior will increase morale (as you make it evident that you need to be purged off the face of EVE) - just look at goons' perception of test posting; it's not intentional on part of test but the effect is pretty much what you describe.

True. Completely true. And after seeing Test being able to log in 300 guys form first minute, and CFC being unable to do it, just guess why they did post that? Because i think both sides tried it the same way. But seems that the Gods are not impartial. Never were.
Still wait to see Hisec boy'z moms coming down to Fountain, you know? Their dogs are already there.

I don't love it but I get the concept. I'm not locked to the words themselves.

I would guess what is really missing is some double meanings in the original language.

A more accurate analogy for those that need something more than < innoculously small but persistant> can lead to something < big and deadly> But I don't think "wave" necessarily meant "big and deadly" so much to the author. And a "wave " means many things and in poetry it is very often just not one meaning but a flavor of all meanings of the word (sin wave, tidal wave, wave at a football stadium, wave of a hand.... yes water was mentioned but the feeling of the other meanings isn't null unless your a hopelessly linear minded person that takes things literally)

.. but on the "deadly and big thing" I could instead stay something like could be

a small rock kicked from a trail can create a landslide....

BUT that is an entirely more constrained concept.

what is important is the CONCEPT of a what a Ripple is and the concept of what a Wave is, and their juxtaposition.

Even if the pebble induced ripple would never turn into a wave the real point I believe it is saying :
" a ripple is a fractal version of a wave"

Fractals are a quite interesting concept and one we had less words for empirically not long ago but for which poetry and verse and idiom had explored earlier.

A ripple itself is a very interesting thing .. something so small creating such a large pattern on a small pond. Yes it doesn't create a crashing ocean type of wave.. but it does create a patter of a light/sound wave.. .AND .. it creates a tiny little lapping wave far from where it hit.... and PERHAPs that meaning is more apparent in the writer's other language.

You don't need to know the original language to let your mind contemplate the concepts together. Certainly the butterfly effect, or a small ripple of energy in a crowd flares outward into a riot (if you've ever experienced one you know it's force .... luckily my experience was more limited to taking down a field goal after a football game)

You spelling police are probably the same ones that get hung up on the preciseness of an analogy without trying to get the visceral relation.

Ripples and waves have all sorts of relations.. it is a fine analogy as long as you don't have this weird concept that words mean one and only one thing.
