Paladin, Navy Apocalypse, and while technically not quite Amarr, Nightmare

Zealot, T3, and Absolution fall into the category of best medium-sized ships, with T3 on the top of that category. They're all capable of doing L4's, although generally not at the same speed as the abovementioned ships (unless it's a mission that requires more travel with little killing, such as a blitzed Dread Pirate Scarlet, or many close range smaller ships). If you really want to maximize efficiency then keep a T3 for special cases and a Paladin for general missioning, and switch between them as needed. But going for the Navy Apoc (or standard, but imo the Navy version is worth every penny) first, then into T3, then Marauders will probably be the best way to go.

I ran a few missions with a legion, it is pretty meh. can get more dps and projection out of battleship hulls. although if I did use my decline and have 4 hours to go and that stupid wildcat strike shows up 4 jumps away it is my goto ship.

paladin and nightmare are both fantastic! if anything they have only gotten better lately!

Navy geddon vs navy apoc might be a more interesting fight now. rof bonus, utility high, and room for 5 sentries vs range and tracking bonus. I'll probably never do anything more than eft warrior the two, as I have the paladin and nightmare muhauhauha!

I'm pretty sure the Apoc is still significantly ahead. It has much better fitting, even an all 5's navy geddon can't even fit a full set of T1 tachyons and a LAR. The Apoc also has better base cap, which when using CCC's means it will also make up for the lack of cap bonus. It's a good bit more mobile. And better projection is... well.. better projection.

Why would you fit Tachyons?

Use Pulse Lasers.

It is trivial to get a Navy 'geddon fit that breaks 1k damage and still manages a decent tank.

Because if the OP is wondering what to train for, chances are he doesn't have Large Pulse Specialization yet (or even large energy weapons at 5). Using pulses without scorch on the navy geddon won't have nearly enough range to be effective in L4's, so beams are the next best option, and with the geddon's tight fitting he'll have to make a sacrifice somewhere (downgrade guns, reduce tank/mobility modules, waste rig or low slots on PG). Getting the geddon to 1k paper dps won't matter one bit if it can't apply that for ****.

EDIT: and at max skill level, the navy Apoc is only behind by 8 turrets to 9.3, approximately a 15% dps loss, which the great projection ability (especially regarding smaller targets) more than makes up for.
