DRONE UI: an easy/ fast to implement FIX

This is not only a solution for 'clickers' (i'm not one myself)

You could use the hotkeys that you have already assigned to those module slots.

Also a single hotkey for drone launching wouldn't do anything. Different flights of drones would be mixed up (like right clicking on 'drones in bay' -> 'launch drones' - if there are more than 5 drones, a random set will be launched. No matter how you grouped them)

If my proposal is implemented, you'd have a button to click AND a hotkey for each flight (also a hotkey for each flight to return) Pretty elegant in my opinion Cool

Deciding to place one custom set of drones into a "slot" and being able to launch that via hotkey...! Maybe rightclick on the slot and load another set as if drones were ammo? Yes pls!

New target lock death animation problem #1 ^ eye strain and pain Temporary workaround found to one of these.

I can see where you're coming from, having different hotkeys for different flights might be confusing for some without some visual representation reminding them. I would say my solution is the least they could do, where your solution is a better fix all around.

That's a great idea. Would be helpful for "changing ammo" as well as replenishing the same drone types as they're being shot down.

this is an opinion more related to my own playstyle:

when flying ships with odd bandwidths and dronebays that use mixed flights for maximum damage i used to group the bigger drones (f.e. 2 hammerheads) and make a big group of small drones (like 5 hobgoblins)

you can then launch the hammerhead group first and the hobgoblins second to get your mixed flight out
launch additional drones of the hobgoblin flight to replenish or adjust to smaller targets (after scooping the med drones ofc)

this wouldn't be possible when drone groups were used as ammo types, since scooping the current flight had to be linked to the launch command - also there would be a problem with repleneshing lost drones with drones from a different group

It would have the benefit of needing only 1 module slot, but personally, i wouldn't trade that in for basic functionality
