Do I need to return to the system where my clone is in order to recover the one I purchased with the amount of skill points insured? How exactly is this done? Plus do I lose one of my jump clones? Thx

You have to find a station with a medical bay to buy a new medical clone. Since the station you woke up in is the one where you bought the medical clone you're currently using (the body you woke up in) it's good to just update immediately after being podded, before you undock and fly somewhere else.

The use of the clone is automatic, if it's easier think of buying a clone as "insurance" against death. When you die, your engrams fly through hyperspace and are loaded into the clone so you don't lose any skills. If you aren't updated, you lose I wanna say 5% of the difference between your total and the capacity of the clone you bought, up to one level of one skill (iirc usually one of your biggest multiplier skills).

Jump clones are different than medical clones. In setting terms, a medical clone is the crash recovery system for your cyborg brain. Jump clones are just different terminals for the main system that you switch to without any kind of trauma or damage. When you die you always crash to the medical clone, not a jump clone, your JCs are still up.

Clear 'nuff?
