What if T3 cruisers were shapeshifters?

Subsystems need to go. Just remove them, grant all role abilities to hull through subsystem skills, adjust base values to do all roles worse than t2.

Then grant the ability to fit in space from limited cargohold.

There you go, generalized shapeshifter that does everything on faction ship quality but worse than t2. Easy to balance since subsystems are out of the equation. Worthwile to fly because you can adjust fit between exploration, pve and pvp on the fly.

Edit: t3 skill could reduce cap penalty for onlining new mods to make shapeshifting faster (still takes minutes realistically).

Why?

"Yea, some dude came in and was normal for first couple months, so I gave him director." - Sean Dunaway

"A singular character could be hired to penetrate another corps space... using gorilla like tactics..." - Chane Morgann

Sometimes you have to wait for the things you love P

Gorram it...Doc's letting me down!!!

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

Why?

• they restrict the generalization of t3 as you need to dock up before playing the other roles
• they add an unnecessary layer to the game balance
• they add an unnecessary layer to game complexity; less is more and fitting them is plain tedious
• they add an unnecessary layer of industry and tedious manufacturing
• they do not actually accomplish anything you could not do better by simply fitting more ships and swapping in station

Came into thread expecting THIS ... left dissapointed, and I also enjoyed the background music ... if T3s came with music like that during reptilian shapeshifting I would buy all 4 racial ones.

This thread is really productive...... that is, if you are looking for lots and lots of really ridiculous suggestions which are never going to happen :)

Pretty sure they were

On Saturday, 11 November 2006, White Wolf and CCP Games, the Icelandic MMO development company responsible for EVE Online, announced a merger between the two companies during the keynote address at the EVE Online Fanfest 2006. It was also revealed that a World of Darkness MMORPG was already in the planning stages.

You realise EVERY other gallente ship is named after greek mythology right?

... **** sake, its obvious to a friggin DOG that its named Proteus after, y'know, Proteus from greek myth.

What I would like to see is the T3 ships becoming able to take on multiple roles at the same time, but slightly weaker than any one T2 ship's role. Therefore there would be subsystems to make your T3 into a logistics recon ship, which would be weaker at either role than the T2 logistics or recon ship, but would be a pretty cool amalgamation of the 2 requiring new tactics to fly and counter.

Then again, maybe EVE doesn't need something that will complicate it further!

Horrible idea. Impossible to balance.

I think this is pretty much what they are going to be doing.

Would they require Energon cubes as fuel to transform?
Would the visual changes be similar to the current Rorqual?
