It has come to my attention that EvE is using more memory then it used to. Before the patch my TQ client ran at a even 400 - 500k. but with the release of odyssey its spiked up to 800+. i normally run all on low on both TQ and SiSi so its not that one is running higher then the other Is this because of the new Odyssey changes that require more memory for stability, just my computers becoming out of date and cant handle eve or is there something with the new patch that is requiring more space then necessary ?

800K of memory is nothing, computers these days have a regular memory of 8 GB, remember to save money to upgrade your PC the world wont wait for you, managing your computer will only work for a certain amount of time

Its possible they added more anti bot codes or what not, or simply the gate effects took ALLOT of space... i dont know...

He's asking if the game is using more memory now than before and you reply by telling him that programs today use a lot of memory and he should upgrade. You then go on to speculate, saying you don't know anything. Nice. That's almost the least helpful non-answer I've seen in the Test Server forums, well, ever.

As for OP: I seem to recall that I used to have ~30% memory usage with EVE open. I haven't been paying attention to how much memory EVE uses in Odyssey, so I can't tell you for sure but I'll make another post after I check in a bit. What I can say though is that I'm definitely seeing higher GPU usage under Odyssey 1.0 and it seems a lot of people on TQ are seeing it too. This is something that was mentioned to CCP and was never replied to. It's quite possible that the memory usage increased as well, although I wonder why that would be.

it sounds rather weird... it is possible you've checked right when you logged in?
usually my TQ client requires 500K at the login screen, and then it goes up to around 700-1100k when in-game, depending on what i do.

Ok so i use there new launcher that runs at 100k memory by itself (so i don't go though a log-in like it used to pop up)... after launch the EvEfile.exe opens starting at 200k then from there goes up to 500k and steadies when at the charcter loading screen. after coming into space in game it runs at 700-800k memory almost a Gig of ram used. When i used to open the old EVE it would also start at 200 then perk up to 350 on character loading screen and then stay at 400-500. now because of what ever CCP decided to do that makes eve run almost the double the amount of memory i can barley run 2 eve clients at low settings. I understand the new graphic setting that they have imposed but why would it almost double itself for the required memory??

Seems that exefile is running at 800k. Also, my overall memory consumption has increased from 30% to 40%.

Yes this is what i noticed. since I'm running on 4 GBs of ram i noticed that and this is why i was wondering why the memory went up, since i cant run more then 2 accounts without my comp locking up every frame.

If you got 4GB of ram it's more likely that it's your GPU or CPU that's falling behind than the RAM.

I have noticed a significant performance hit when running multiple clients.

Pre-Odyssey, I could run 9 clients.

Post-Odyssey, I can barely run 6.

This is quickly becoming as bad as the Unified Inventory performance issues we had to deal with.

Per the feedback thread, I figured out last night that if I have sounds (yes, sounds) turned on, each of my clients take up to an additional 150 MB's.

Really CCP? 700 MBs for the client (all low graphic settings) and 150 on top of that just for sound?

Thanks for these reports guys. I will look into this first thing tomorrow and try to report back (or someone from our audio team, Klang, will).

I've also noticed performance issues. Pre-expansion i've run up to 20 accs on low settings without any issues, now i can see some mini freezes while running 2 accs on full settings (altho 1 alone works perfectly)
