Hey fellow pilots!!
Sorry in advance for a tl;dr

I am a two months noob who loves low sec. After spending my first month skilling here and there without knowing what I want to do, I had the idea of training through a Blockade runner, go low sec, doing some PI there and some couriers, making easy money and support my pvp dream.

Four days ago I bought my Blockade runner. Oh, my Viator was so beautiful! I felt confident for my ship; I had read everything about it and every single fit online, I read every single article regarding low sec survival, I saw every youtube video around.
I was Rushing untouched through the stargates, I was laughing on gatecampers. I was so proud! But pride comes before the fall…

I had a courier package to jita, with 250 mill collateral. Here the drama begins:

1st act of the drama: I warped to the last gate, to pass to Jita, and a hundred of red flashes appeared on my overview. Wtf? Pirates here in Perimeter 1.0? “Nooooo, you are an idiot, an overconfident stupid who forgot to leave your corporation before you play the courier. You are at war!!” said the devil that had the nice idea of pay me a visit at that day…

2nd act of the drama: screw them anyways, I said to myself, I will jump, I have done that many times before. Who’s going to jump? No one is going to jump, the gate is closed!! I didn’t know a gate can be closed; I had traveled to jita only 2-3 times before. The devil touched my shoulder: “screw them arrogant noob? They’ll screw you now”.

3rd part of the drama: “I will try everything I have in my armory freaking butchers, I will fight”!! So, I pushed my ECM burst, to buy some time to warp away. No luck unfortunately. I was so pissed that I didn’t even try to save my pod.

4th part of the drama: My new clone appears in base, clone updated. I decided to take my brand new ship with 1 tritanium in the cargo and travel to my base. Anyways, I needed some “fresh air”, some traveling to calm down. But outside the station a party set up on my ship, every single noob like me was trying to kill me!! I lost the ship and pod escaped to Rens, without knowing what happened. After a couple of beers, I found out I was a criminal: my sec status was -5.3!! “I am an idiot, why I used that freaking ECM burst when a hundred of people were around? Why did I use a module that I do not know exactly how it works?” I was screaming to myself.

My dear friends, in a couple of seconds:
a) I lost my Viator, the collateral, my implants and my pride.
b) I had -5.3 sec status
c) hundreds of pilots have killing rights on me, spread to anyone even without ISK.

In a couple of seconds the whole universe became a no man’s land for me, a two months noob.
For a few hours I thought my cartoon is unplayable anymore. Now I am station trading. I managed to buy some cheap tags to increase a bit my sec status, although I need many more. But I will continue. I won’t give up. I will survive.

PS. Sorry for any English mistakes, it is not my mother tongue.

"So, I pushed my ECM burst"

Gave me a big wide smile there. Loved the story, and how well you took it all.

Now tell us .... where is the part you actually ruined your char ?
To be criminal can be funny. Many people like to play as criminals.
Belive it or not .... You will break many blockade runners during your career . There is no ship in EvE wich cannot be destroyed btw.

I broke more than once a ship wich i never wanted to break.

I don’t care about the ship. You are right about that I will lose many in the future, even more expensive. I do not mind to be a criminal either. I think I will try it many times in the future. I admit that, after the first shock, it was nice to have everyone on you.

But I am new in the game, and I cannot support my criminality from an ISK point of view. I am an easy kill, I need around a month to decently fly a frigate and have a chance to loot someone.

Anyways, am I the guy who discovered the lightning fast way to be a criminal (ECM burst in Jita)? Haven't heard about it before...

Gimme an award for this please!!! Big smile

well, It may was my mistake I left the safety in red as I was traveling in low sec all the time. But for sure, It was mainly a lack of knowledge of how ECM burst works, and how fast you can lose sec status.

here is my print screen

you can verify my SP and the killrights. You can also verify the number of the pilots, and that their killrights against me are on the same timer. I havent killed anyone, ever. This is the second ship I lose. The other one was also an Indy.

here is the kill: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=18146043

CONCORD involved after ECM burst.

Edit: also see this to verify where the killrights came from:

nothing is ruined. the learning curve has steepened a bit tho. try not to get discouraged you can come through this fine. you may even have some unexpected fun and become a better player than you might have been if this hadnt happened. good luck

You should start faction warfare in T1 frigates. Your security status won't mean much and it is good isk.

If you choose to, I'll give you an award of some ships in the FW region you select.

Enjoyed the story :)
The locked gates are broken game mechanics, pilots should receive
warning signs about them before even reaching the system.

Agreed, locked gates suck ****. Anyways, your down but not out. At risk of pissing some fw people off, you can still buy cloak or fast ships in rens. First thing you need to do is fit up a t1 frig with a t1 MWD and t1 nanos then make an insta for moon 8 station. Then its up to you. You can trade your way out of the hole, do factional warfare in lowsec, or commit to it and start suicide ganking for cash.

There is always option to shoot red crosses at lowsec or 0.0 belt and gain more security status.

Also kill rights does not stay for ever, those will expire on month or so.

ECM Burst in Jita is one of the best newbie mistakes I've ever heard of. Props to you.

I wish we had more newbies that turned their failures into funny stories of lessons learned instead about just whining on the forums. May you go fourth and prosper. I hope to see you on the field of battle some day, regardless of what side you're on.
