Because players haven't hauled them to all the stations where they are not seeded.

What is a conataner?

They are npc (I think) & can't be hauled.

In answering your question I've found an answer to my own. Apparently freight containers can do the job too.

Thanking you.

A while ago CCP moved from seeding the containers themselves to seeding the blueprints. The containers are relatively inexpensive to produce, but not a really lucrative item, so few people bother manufacturing them.

I personally sell them in my home station, but looking at the market, few seem to have the same idea. If you use them often, consider buying the blueprints, as they are quite cheap.

They aren't seeded at all anymore. They're player-made.

Because there's not a market at every single station, and it's a pain in the ass to haul any meaningful quantity of the damn things out there.
I've taken to using them to boost my sales of ammo; the more of other people's freighters I have moving bulky junk around, the more the temptation to team up and gank them, and consume ammo I sell.
Selling containers is a nice little earner on the side, though, if slow.

Very slow tbh, but I also started producing them as there were none around and I find them invaluable. Now I sell a couple most days.

I'm not sure when this was changed, but I repacked a station container and it fit in a Bestower. Rigged and fitted of course, but I moved it, I'm sure of that. Sold for #edit# 100k by taking it a couple jumps.

#edit# Wow, was that all? Anyway, they can be repackaged now so someone can bring you all the containers you need. Just tell us where you are, and some friendly merchant will be along soon. Twisted

Alternatively, just buy them in a trade hub, and courier-contract them in.
