Hey Guys,

i would like to collect some of the most annoying audio notifications in the current release of eve here. Maybe we can get rid of some of them again.

Official Odyssey Issues Thread

Official Odyssey Feedback Thread

edit:
the new No. 1 since Odyssey:

The "tanking damage" sound notification. Gets played over and over again and is some kind of water/bubble themed sound. I can't even say with certainty what it is notifying me about. Just know that it gets played non-stop when someone shoots me since Odyssey. WTF?!?!

My No. 1 by far:

The "aggression noise" when you get aggression timer (or however it is called now).
@CCP: Try flying a guardian or triage carrier in PVP or PVE before you introduce new audio notification please!!!

My No. 2:

The sound when emptying a can. Useless... since the window closes anyway...

ATTENTION:
If you are just thinking about posting something along the line of "Eve got sound?" or "Just turn off sound!" please get lost.

Cheers
Gal

I think the 'Aggro' noise/sound is good because it differs from everything else.
Actually it is an alarm, how do you want an alarm to be?

You know we fly in w-space mostly, i don't want an alarm for any timer at all cause it is totally irrelevant for our fleets. I think the main problem is that the alarm goes off every time you refresh that timer on another target. That means every time you switch a remote rep or gun fire to a different target it does "beeep". When we do PVE this is a nightmare for any triage carrier.

edit: i just would like an option to turn timer audio alarms off.

Maybe it would be good if you could choose from different alarms :)

well, see my edit of the last post, we would be very happy pandas if we got the option to turn the audio alerts for timers off.

actually i think i got used to the beeping to a point where i find the most irritating the one 15 minutes after a fight. When adrenalin is fading away and you get that stupid "beeping" out of nowhere again. : )

I'm sorry, but until you have heard 50+ ships jump at once, you cannot complain.

Afterwards, you will never complain about any other EVE sound. Nor anything else, because you'll probably be deaf

#1 - The beeping that happens when your NPC (or PC) combat logoff tag wears off. It's constantly freaking me out because I start to think something IMPORTANT is actually happening. Most useless warning ever.

when you have 10-15 5-min teal pvp flags and then they start to wear off 1 by 1 - you get same sound notification for each one wearing off =\.

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.

I have to second this. In my eyes it is not really making any sense to have a audio warning for the 15 min thing. This whole aggression audio warning totally ruins the immersion for me (and other people I fly with).

Wow CCP managed to top the aggression sound alert that screams into my ears every time i switch the target for my remote rep...

There is a new super useless audio alert for (i think) taking damage. WTF?!?!?!?!? Evil
That water/bubble themed sound that gets played... well i figured that i am getting shot at when it gets played over and over again.
By now it is not even possible to properly guess anymore what all these massively annoying audio alerts are trying to tell you.

Please everyone spam the Odyssey feedback thread with complains about that audio nightmare going on there since the winter expansion. Please ask for a settings page where we can tick on/off any single audio notification on one page.

The soundscape of EVE is such a mess by now that i am about to turn of sound completely and loose the few but very useful audio notifications i really need. But no, that's not really possible. Cannot camp a wormhole without audio on... darn...

As stated above, these are alarms - they are not meant to be ignored, they are meant to be audible and irritating, so you cant'say that nobody told you that something was happening.

I'd love if i can get a person with actual experience on any military or heavy construction/transport vehicle could confirm my words, but that's how alarms are made to sound IRL.

When you undock\jump and the automatic system scan kicks in...the three beeps to start the scan, the static noise when scanning and the three beeps again when the scan finishes...pretty bad on 1 account and bad on two let alone any more.

1) No you cannot disable this scan at the moment AFAIK

2) No I didn't select the scanner to be visible\show

3) I don't care if it doesn't annoy you, this a collection of annoyances...this annoys me.

I appreciate the OP opening this thread up but if you feel like adding to these threads below I'm sure the Dev's are actively monitoring them:

Official Odyssey Issues Thread

Official Odyssey Feedback Thread

EDIT: Perhaps one thing to solve my "annoying sounds" would be to hook these sounds only into the System Scanner when it is actively set by a Capsuleer to scan. Thsi would obviously include having the option to turn the thing off permanently if not required and not perform a cursory scan on every undock or jump.

If the "water bubble" low shield alert is bothering your delicate ears, then turn it off. If the other sounds are bothering your delicate ears, turn down the UI sounds. It's amazing how much people wail and cry about things needing to be stripped out of EVE when there's already a switch or a slider to control whatever's offending them.

The timers make noise so that you know when they're active and you know when they're ending. Deal with it. That high-pitched noise is so that you know when you're interacting with another ship and when you stop. It's called audio feedback and it tells you when your commands are being acted upon. Again, if you don't like it you can just turn down the UI sounds.

I don't know what sort of IQ requirement is required to fly in WH space, but over here in highsec I'm able to figure out what most everything does the first time I hear it. Everyone else seems able to as well.

Maybe you should get your feets wet outside of carebear land before you bi..h like that. Don't you think i have tried some of the very sparse settings in the audio settings tab since i started playing this game in 2006.

If anyone else feels like posting along the line of the quoted post i would appreciate if you f...ed off before pressing the "post" button. TY

Good point, i will link the feedback threads in the OP.

Thank you for mentioning that overlay scan half backed feature...

If i find the time i will have to file some bug reports on that whole thing. Yesterday it stopped working on one client while still working on the other one, well the first one was the rear scout, great... unreliable new features are great especially when they are meant to kind of replace previous features (aka deep space probes).

I've "had my feets wet outside of carebear land", as you put it, and decided that null can go screw itself. This thread, however, is not about that.

No, in fact, I do not trust a 2006 player to try turning things off or turning them down. Even 2003 players routinely fail to do so, instead demanding things be removed entirely from the game specifically because they don't like it. You can turn these things off, I've done it myself on the test server when I was trying to isolate which sounds are linked to which volume slider.

I don't want all these new and for my play style totally useless audio notifications removed, i just want to have the option to turn all these off that don't give me any benefit or worse distract me from the plenty of other tasks at hand in a pvp/pve fleet.

If you ever did some pvp in any certain role in a pvp fleet you would know what i mean, carebear. With your skill level you would end up on someone else's killboard everytime you leave a pos shield in w-space.

Now don't start whining about someone calling you a carebear. You are one, you know it and you started the bitching. Just move along.

@Alvatore DiMarco and Galmas :

Now now gentleman, no dueling outside of Jita 4-4, the traders feel robbed if you do!

Can't we all just get along and post up the sounds that annoy us and if anyone has any workarounds\solutions then post them up to. Let's see if we can help each other out...Carebears and PVPers united against Audio Torture...you know it makes sense:
