Suicide gankers aren't going to hang out for four hours to find ice fields full of max-yield skiffs.

They will head out to asteroid belts instead since those belts are always around.

Well to be honest I wouldn't think the changes where that bad or didn't till this rolled into osmon http://imgur.com/FrFMAhL that is the local clusterfvck that eats all the roids in sight. Im trying to mine a few loads aday to fuel my pos and cant get that due to them so now my time is getting spent on making 1 bill isk ready for a fleet to suicide gank em :)

If anyone is interested in finding out when the skff fleet is there I will notify them with pleasure :)

why don't you just do something that earns more isk/hour than mining (which is basically anything) and then buy your ice products?

cause then my isk is going to the people who are forcing me out of the ice field ide rather struggle on and turn isk into them getting ganked.

I like your style and if you ever do the talk it proves the current system is full of win. A war between miners in highsec over ice ... damn!

who cares? you spend less time obtaining ice products and/or end up with a fatter wallet.

alternatively, osmon isn't the only ice system in the forge.

I wonder how long it will take High Sec Ice Mining Corps to incorporate squads of "insert gankship name here" into their Corp structure, sitting in the system station ready to "gank" competition as they arrive on the ice grid lol

That would never happen. They rather come to the forums and cry about the changes. These people usually say stuff like "Someone should do something against X" - where X being whatever disturbs their easy ISK making.

Halving the harvesters cycle times, plus lots of miners (I usually notice on average 60 miners in high sec ice belts) in the anomalies trying to vie for their piece of the pie, means those anomalies should expire quite quickly. Might just pop me some popcorn and go hang out, watch what happens. Could be quite entertaining. Lol

No problems out where I am. At all. Plenty of Ice. You think Ice Miners are going to shoot the competition out of business ? Yeah right.

You will get a rather boring show.

I'd like to think that the smart ones already have, or have at least started preparing along those lines.

i doubt it, i can't see how the security loss of repeatedly ganking miners outweighs just training another miner and mining the ice out from under them.

Indeed this is an aspect of the game won by overwhelming numbers, not guns.

Why would High Sec Industrial Corps suddenly go to war with each other when for the past 10 years it has been mostly cooperative play? This has never been a group that rocks the boat with other players.

Outside of Caldari Space, especially within 10 jumps from Jita, there is plenty of Ice, and if one misses out, it's not long till a re-spawn anyway. And anytime after 1800 Peak Time there is hardly anyone Ice Mining anyway.

besides, what happens when you gank them? they warp in 30 seconds later in a new ship. while you're waiting out your criminal flag, however long that is... ganking them doesn't *stop* them, it just costs them a bit of isk, which they don't care about because they're mining all that ice you're not mining while you're waiting out your criminal flag.

The best part of this change is it's going to wreak havoc on botter's income. Also, congrats to those who stocked up on ice product before Odyssey... you are gonna make yourselves some nice ISK off the ice. Twisted

100% agree i want to laugh it up at how much money ccp loses with the mass canceling of those accounts.
I am almost 100% certain this change will result in eve becoming a FTP game

When dude with 20 accounts cant mine ice anymore
guess what he will cancel all of them Now multiply that by 1000x
I applaud ccp at trying to address the problem but its far to late now and they ignored it for way too long.

I hope ccp can live on 20% less income that's my bet for accounts lost in this change.
Login are high right now as always with any new expac give this change 3 months and i bet there under 25k again as most of the afk and bot miners will have quit

Think if you had 20 accounts paying with plex and this change happen i would say there is a 99% chance your canceling and not buying anymore plex.

I guess ccp is going to learn a good lesson you can do the right thing and still finish last

PS; I stock piled 3 years of ice for my use after 7 years i know ccp fuks up there game more with every expac. i almost laugh about it now wtf are these dummies going to do this year i have to counter =)

i disagree. players like that are the ones who, at the moment, own the ice belts. they turn up and strip them clean in less than an hour. for them this change isn't so bad. they are making huge amounts of isk/hour from it.

the people who will cancel accounts are players like me with say, 3-5 accounts. it's simply not viable to compete with players running 20 accounts. you either accept that your slice of the cake is smaller post odyssey or you diversify. personally i've chosen to diversify.

however yeah, i can see people dropping their 2nd/3rd miner's accounts, and possibly even their orca pilot's accounts. that won't bode well but i'm sure it won't be as bad as eve going free to play.

There are many players with 20+ accounts
I would say one ice belt in empire might support 2 of these players the rest are going to get little to no ice and will cancel

i have been watching this change closely, about 40 players or 2 squads can take down a belt in less than 1.5 hours it then takes another 4 hours to re-spawn. during that time anyone who logs on to mine is SOL that mechanic will = account cancels

Granted eve is a game that fudges its economy to make it work, this change gives ccp another mechanic to control the economy. CCP can easily scale ice by increasing often belt spawn or amount of ice that spawns in the belt.
In the end the only rational explanation for this change ccp wants control of this resource and the ability to tweak or fudge the books to keep the economy from crashing. I have feeling if the prices go above what ccp economists wanted they will increase how much ice we get for now its seems they want to dwindle the stock piles people have and stop the price of ice from falling anymore as the demand plummets
