I just started getting back into the youtube RPG community, it looks like a very popular poster there had a few alts that he has been using to troll other posters. The alt said some really horrible things to other posters and heaped scorn and negative criticism on their video's.

There was much uproar and rage when "evidence" was posted that the evil troll was an alt of this popular and well liked poster. Apparently he sent a troll mail to someone while logged into his main, thinking that it was the troll alt! lol Awox fail =-P

Anyway, I get back and find all this out and I'm thinking "well, whats wrong with that! Sounds like a great way to get rid of the competition."

Have you changed? Is it Eve's "fault"? How do you feel about the youtube trolls actions? Has Eve changed you?

Actually yes and for the better. It has developed my leadership skills and only a month ago I have found out I am being promoted there. So win win. Alas at times it has impacted on my physical fitness however I am taking measured to rectify that. For example today I went for a three mile run.

As for the question of Morality I don't think it transfers at all. In eve a person could be a monomaniacal genius who crushes all below his will. In real life he could well be a nurse. Those who try and draw the parallel when they are defeated only try to make themselves feel better.

I drain ducks of their moisture for sustenance.

It's made me realise a few things, I don't think it's affected my morals though.

The most powerful and poignant insights come from when we apply our internal observations to the world around us. I have no idea what you are talking about.

I was tempted to say "Get a life!" and leave but decided to just leave. Just sad. Shocked

I look at it as a game. That's all.

I then go back and do my RL job and spend time with RL friends.

What i do i here does not reflect on the person i am outside of the game. Mind you, i do take a lot of time helping new people in the game and offering advice.

You know what, I'm the same in-game as I am out of it. It hasn't changed me at all. Cool

Well, i don't know. My moral compass is ruled by hard logic and some mathematics rules.
So what works well in EvE works in RL.
EvE changed other things, but not that.

Don't feed the trolls.

Short and simple, no.

I suck at EVE as a result but so be it.

I'm sorry, but I am 62 years old, and unable to change. I am the same person on one side of the keyboard as the other.

I wish that some of the players who say they are nice people IRL would make an effort to prove it in-game.

Professional in my Job, husband to my wife and father to my daughter. Try to do all three well.

In eve though.

I play Raptors naturally - normal traits. Pretty straight up kinda guy.

alt 1 is a complete bastard of a pirate. Rather kill than ransom. will pop all the industrials I catch, will pop noob ships, will do rude things to corpses. In short a polar opposite.

alt 2 is a trader, and funds the majority of my pew pew. Cutthroat, none of that fair trade stuff.

Does EvE affect my moral compass in real life? Nope. Its a game. Even the meta game, manipulation, awoxing etc. still a game - and it wont put fuel in my car, salmon on my table or a pretty bisexual chick in our bed.
