Interesting. I personally embrace my inner nerd. Lets be honest, its an outer nerd. As far as gaming gear goes I guess I could do custom vinyls for laptops and cases. I know I can do mouse pads but thats tacky.

To be perfectly honest though, after a refreshing nap and some strong coffee it seems quite clear that this does violate the EULA. Oh well. Back to the drawing board. Thanks for entertaining the idea MD.

RMT = super forbidden (insta perma ban). You are not directly money trading but you are still value trading.

The act of giving a RL valued good for a CCP property = trading the good equivalent value = money for CCP property = RMT.

I think it's against the law in the U.S. too.

As they expect to tax this type of transaction.

I'd expect jail time if taxes based on value of the plex was not paid.

Its not actually against the law in the US. I wear a lot of hats in my little business and I can tell you from experience that small businesses trade goods & services all the time. I always put such trades on our books. It just goes in as $ value & the IRS accepts that just like real cash transactions.

To answer some other questions: the shirts in the EVE store are just plain lame. I have a few ideas that are much better. Being mega nern who works in the fashion industry allows me to see clearly how to combine our shared spaceship geekiness with style. The trick will be to tap into EVE's rich history of player created content.

It is certainly clear that my idea would violate the EULA so it isn't going to happen but perhaps I will make a few shirts and hold a contest of some sort so that I'm not asking for anything but just giving them away. Then if I get enough traction I will contact CCP to see if they want to buy my designs.

If you are actually interested in seeing what I can do and maybe winning some cool EVE related swag (at least as "cool" as anything EVE related can be) then subscribe to the thread. I am a busy man so don't expect anything soon but I will get around to it...soon(tm)

If I see you post or like any part of this thread then your name will go into the drawing for free stuff.

Yes I would but no comment on whether it would breach trademark or other IP.

This is just a bit of preliminary market research. If you had the option to buy EVE related swag, well designed & high quality ofc, for ISK or PLEX would you?

Yes, but only ifs made by a redhead.

If relativity equals time plus momentum, what equals relativity, if the momentum is minus to the time?

Wouldn't buy EVE-stuff per se, but unique Dynasphere goodies would be nice. (...nice thing for corp member birthdays.)
Have been looking for a ring designer etc for a time. I know a very talented lady in Berlin who does custom rings and other jewelry. But it never hurts to have a look at other artist.

Sorry for being short. In fight.

Yes I did. And honestly, I wasn't impressed. They have great graphic designers at CCP but they shouldn't let them design shirts.
Its ok to be a nerd and still have style, you know?

Don't people sell services such as TS servers and website designs for in game isk? I am pretty sure I saw a couple of posts about that.

Also if CCP did some ships models i'd totally jump on that, an Armageddon model or an archon will fit rather nicely in my room, was it for real cash or iskies.

And I don't think there is a huge market for "style" and "cloth" in an internet spreadsheet spaceship game, especially if you are catering to the "super rich" which can only involve trading, manufacturing on a huge scale or running mega alliances (ceo's steal a lot right?). I don't want to presume but these people rarely the light of the sun right? (Please refrain from I am rich but I have a lot of friends and i party all night and you will only dream about the gf I have comments, all of the above was said in jest)

Before these awful forums, there was also people who'd design EvE signatures for the posters.

But look, it's TS for EvE, websites for EvE, signatures for EvE. CCP has so much to gain from fostering EvE communities and services that they are very lenient (I have described to some in game about a special and very valuable CCP reward for those who stand out at that).
Plus that's CCP's intellectual property (IP) usage to create CCP related services / products.

In the second case (Geddon), it's still CCP making money selling you that stuff.

The above is totally separated from an individual making money or getting items (in)directly making use of CCP IP for his own gain. Since CCP won't make a nickel out of that, they forbid it. It's that simple.

Now, sign up a profit sharing contract with CCP and voilĂ  they magically allow you to trade whatever for PLEX or whatever.

Until i can run around stations fluidly and jump and dance or do some sort of other goofy visual antic unique to this game (station laser gun fights?) I'm very unlikely to buy any clothing vanity goods.

As others have mentioned.. owning a Titan has a littel bit of interest to me but I'd only want it to be 1/10th of my EVE wealth and I'd need almost an order of magnitude more to make that so.... ..

VANITY I WOULD PAY for ?

I would pay a 300 million Bribe*** (NPC isk sink) to be called SIR when I entered stations and various other announcements..

"You have been granted permission to dock SIR" .. "Warp drive active SIR "

Maybe even a title "General" or "Captain" or "COUNT " or eve better something like "Yes Mr. Calypso"

Buying a Title from NPCs seems totally consistent with the environement

As only the player would hear the "Sir" it wouldn't detract from other players enjoyment.

**or an anuual plex (athough don't want to drive plex prices up.. maybe a $ cost or an isk cost at fixed rates that would only vaguely be a fixed connection do to it's relation to an untransferable vanity privalage
