It wouldn't work. In Final Fantasy 11, they allow you to sign crafted items and give them to your friends or sell them in your bazaar (personal market) and it stays there. But, the moment you sell it on the Auction House (server-wide market), the signature is erased. I'd imagine EVE would be similar in nature.

C'mon people. You know you'd pay more for an exclusive Navy Raven that had the label, 'Crafted by Mr Epeen' attached to it.

Kind of like someone else said, but have the ship tagged and when repacked the tag goes away.

And with that, you might have a few old ships that you hang on to that might mean something special to you. Not too mention the collection you might accrue over time.

Like a first edition 1963 Corvette Stingray you bought yourself and never sold. It just sits in the garage because you don't want it to get dirty.

to bad crafting doesn't give ships unique stats based on the skills of the crafter instead of the skill based cost of materials we have now.

then you could actually build something better than the next guy and have your stuff be in demand by the public, and your factories on your competitor's KOS list.

one day they should look at expanding industry to create unique goods, perhaps a stand alone uniques system that overlays the standard NPC based item system

I'd love that, if you could also tweak some values of the items, kinda almost having a player driven Borderlands 2 style. "Wildcard Inc. 425mm Railgun II" slightly lower tracking, but a higher ROF.

Naturally it'd cause several small fires to break out in and around the servers and would be impossible to balance, even if it was fesible in the current system.

One can dream though.

I lied :o

I don't know about build dates but I do know the wallet has that transaction feature which does show when and who you bought items from.

I had a nice moment in a station where someone bought a ship i had built and as I left the station the guy who bought it flew it out right behind me. Kind of cool to see another player fly something I made.

There are only three things worth nothing in Eve; ISK; Skill Points and Getting Blown up. Once you learn this, the universe truly sets you free.
