We totally understand your concerns about how the scattered can collection will work as it is a departure from how the rest of EVE works. The mechanic itself comes from a mining prototype developed by CCP Veritas and does work well within EVE as far as we can ascertain from our user testing of it. It's not a crazy clickfest as it will take several seconds to pull each can in. We are in a phase of playtesting and refining how long, how fast and how many cans will scatter. The 'twitch' side of it is no more than exists in EVE interacting with the UI now, the main difference is that you are interacting within the space scene itself.

From the stealth "it's ok that we screwed up exploration, because soon mining will be just as bad" thread.

Enjoy "ice spew" and "rock spew" and chasing evaporating cans at the end of every cycle of the mining lasers.

I assume we can look forward to "salvage spew" as well. And logically when we shoot any ships those also should spew loot into evaporating cans instead of making all those stupid wrecks. No more AFK salvaging!

It also would be cool if every time you buy something off the market whatever you bought is blown out the docking port of the station so you have to undock and play grab ass with everyone else around the station trying to loot your item from a can that will disappear in five seconds. It would sure put an end to people AFK'ing on the market window anyway.

EvE is supposed to suck.  Wait . . . what was the question?

Just gonna keep posting this in every idiotic whine thread I see:

If they do to mining what they did to hacking and arch sites, mining might actually be worth doing.

The ISboxer tears would be hilarious, too. Lol

I think the only thing genuinely spewing around here are the new threads posted every hour about stuff like this.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

They showed that prototype at fanfest. The way it worked is if you did nothing the tractor would by chance get about half of what the laser blasted off the roid. But you could also direct the tractor and get more. Result: Both lazy semi afk mining and active mining would be supported.

EGOSOFT X SERIES uses this mechanic, it would literally be intellectual theft no matter who wrote the code.

THEY WILL NOT SPEW MINING

CCP will go the path of what happened to Ice, but when the latest DX version is widely enough adopted with the player base, i´m sure the shiny of tessellation has them wet already.

I like the idea of market purchases spewing. It would add content for WiS!

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

It's kind-of a funny image. Lol

This sort of mechanic is so ancient in terms of video games that anyone attempting to claim intellectual ownership of it is going to have around 30 years of video games to contend with, first.

More like an anti-multiboxer mechanic.

"Click on some ****" is not really a hard problem for a bot to solve.

I like the loot spewing mechanic, adds another level to the game, scan site, and then try to grab the right cans.

Something the 'Y NO MORE GOOD LOOT' whiners haven't grasped yet.

That's a super smart move. Make the game impossible to play for the guy who pays you $1,500 a month. It does appear to be their plan though.

Good change. Ratters do more than just click one npc and grab a coffee, why not miners. I think something like having a little graphical window where you needd to keep your mining lasers optimized would be good to, maybe a color band with aan otimal which decays if untouched or something. But this sounds good.

I will likely unsuscribe both accounts of mine if they implement this, and I don't just pay monthly fees I also buy plex. Was bad enough what they did to ice mining, now hardly anyone gets to mine ice.

I support this idea.

Ok seriously, if mining gets harder, less people do it, mineral prices go up (thus requiring less ore to make the same profit).

If minerals cost more, so does everything that requires minerals to build. I don't see the issue.

In the long run, if stuff is too expensive to build/use, it becomes worthless.
