Protects your head from the sun primarily; this makes me think a decent number of EVE players may be bald or balding as it's fairly often I encounter people who may have spent far too long in the sun and have friend their noggins.

Much as I'd love for this to be true (and yes I'd burn a Plex for that), the fact is that with the jacket on the CC downsizes your assets so they fit within the same bounding box with the coat on. The CC didn't do that originally, so putting a jacket or vest over "the girls" made them look even bigger (like real clothing sometimes does). That got fixed in Crucible at some point.
