Ah I am sorry to hear that has been the case for you. I assure you, we're not all savages. Sadly most men don't care about feelings any more, apparently it isn't "tough enough".

Sad state of affairs, pun intended.

Da dum tsh. I don't know you, but I like you already.

Doesn't sound like you've ever dated the sort of Gallente that I have, Cherbourg.

It was a bit of a joke.

Some Fed Navy guy (Sorjat, maybe) tried to make a joke about how he'd rather date a computer than a Caldari, so I replied "Doesn't sound like you've ever dated the sort of Caldari that I have"...

I've dated a Caldari guy before. Deteis.

He was gorgeous and the perfect gentleman, but the Civire waiter at the restaurant we went to was giving us filthy looks.

Andreus Ixiris > A Civire without a chin is barely a Civire at all.

Pieter Tuulinen > He'd be Civirely disadvantaged, Andreus.

Andreus Ixiris > ...

Andreus Ixiris > This is why we're at war.

Not that you should let that stop you from demonstrating your cunning linguistic ability.

Garoun is overrun by Matari these days anyway, or so I hear, unless one is in Caille, and if one is unfortunate enough to be visiting Caille, one will find that almost no one else is originally from there either.

Fortunately, I do believe blank stares are still free in Caille, so by all means, the adventurous should try to chat up passersby. Confuse or outrage enough people, and they may find themselves the lucky recipients of a UoC research grant.

What the hell's your problem with Caille? Why do you think it's overrun by anyone?

I find Caille frenetic, tedious and believe it is a self-considered social engineered center of the cluster that has precious genuine in common with even much of the Federation. Sadly, I do have to admire how its disposable norms are conveniently packaged for export. One has to travel quite a distance to get wholly away from its influence.

Which brings me to your second question, my dear. I equate Caille's influence to ant bait. It draws in tourists eager to see if the reality of Caille is anything like the fantasy they've been sold. Those who groom and tend and feed those ants have been pushed into the shadows or out of the city entirely, which is why I remarked that Garoun proper seems more Matari these days than Garounix.

So basically you don't like it because you can't keep up with the city and relegate to insulting it as a socially engineered fraud as opposed to an ever evolving living, breathing thing. Also disposable norms? What?

So the giant hodge podge of culture and ..well, fun that I call home is ant bait because you find the amalgamation of so many cultures in one place to be a tourist trap fantasy land? You must be popular with the nationalists.

Oh, and don't ever call me dear again, ever.

Anslo, dear

I must admit, the thought of the sheer amusement you must have provided my dear sister-in-law in implying she would be popular with Gallente nationalists was enough to elicit no small degree of laughter from myself. Perhaps you meant Caldari nationalists? Which, if so, has amusements and irony all its own. Ah, my poor dear Mr. Anslo, I now must wipe the tears of laughter from my eyes at such incidental humour such as yours. I sometimes wonder to myself if Celeste-suuolo had motives other than the purely romantic in marrying my brother -- such as the fact that bearing the name, "Fauconnier-Gesakaarin" can provide so much potential hilarity in both the State and Federation.

As for Caille, well it's much like anything in the Federation: There exists the reality and there is the Caille of mass-consumerism, of vapid, empty advertising that seeks to sell the, "Gallentean Dream," where it comes to be like a beacon of hope and prosperity to countless Matari suffering under supposed injustice and prosperity to buy into it, only to end up in a city where they end up in some dead-end menial job forever hoping they achieve the dream where men and women put pants on their heads in the latest fashion and sport tribal tattoos translated to, "I'm with stupid."

No, you wonder why the Caldari left the Federation? In part, it was because it was a rejection of the particular brand of Caille liberalism that promotes the exploitation and replacement of actual culture and tradition for nothing more than the selling of goods - and anyone with a modicum of self-respect and pride for who they are and where they came from would find that nothing more than pure anathema.

Oh, and Anslo dear, please don't make demands or threats against my family again, ever.

Why do I feel a lot of this seems overly complex...

Language is complex. Spaceships are complex. Culture is complex.

Humans are complex creatures who excel at making complex things. That's a good thing.

If you want uncomplicated and simple, pay someone to provide for your desires. If you want a relationship, learn to appreciate human complexity.

Sorry if I think a relationship or actual love shouldn't need to be complex as opposed to natural. Clearly I just want a hooker to lay with like a typical Gallentean. Clearly.

It doesn't have to be complex, but the fact that humans are involved typically makes anything complex, regardless of necessity.

Also, flirtation is a fun activity, and shouldn't be seen as just a means to an end.

That's just uni life. It was the same 20-25 years ago. I wasn't a student myself, but I worked with some of the girls who went to the uni my husband attended. They preferred the action they got at the club we worked at over what they could get from their fellow university students for that reason, and this was on Matar. Plus, you know, we'd get paid for what we did at the club.

Mostly just stripping and dancing.. Anything more was just an easy way to make extra money if we were willing, and we had the full protection of the club if a client got unruly.

Caille is great, really is. There is something there for everyone as long as you can stomach the giant amount of people. I grew up there, and I don't think I could ever settle down in a quiet system.

Though now that I have spent some time Republic space I have to say that the Brutor give the best raves, rough, but fair. I am still bruised after last weekend! I guess I am sampling some of everything at the moment because I have a lovely Caldari girl in my life.

Just shows that as long as you keep an open mind the universe is yours to explore and taste. Go out there, sample some of everything, live!

I think there's an entire subset of capsuleers for whom romantic overtures begin by sniping at one another on the IGS.

Render unto Khanid the things which are Khanid's; and unto God the things that are God's.
