The choice of red = bad and green = good means that the whole thing is pretty much unplayable for anyone who can't make that distinction. Maybe that's the OP's problem.. ?

How to find out what is in the cans?
I am clicking like mad on this smal icons, and get 2-4 random things.

When hoovering there's a green/red distinction, then right-click and 'take', although that option sometimes doesn't show in the dropdown menu...

It is funny to see ppl raging because they are too stupid to succeed fast in the minigame and to choose the right cans depending on the cargo scan before. I wonder how long those ppl did exploring before? I am a casual player and i find it super easy to hack and access the worthfull cans without any problems. Yehyeh everythings bad now huh.. was so much better to just hack a can which was empty wow. Silly.

So... the hacking minigame is harsh and hard ? It's complicated ?

I like complexity, I don't play EVE because it's easy or fair or even simple.

I'm going to give exploration a try then, thank you for your input OP ! Big smile

As you can see, it is clearly impossible to get any loot anymore, data sites are completely screwed, and this is a huge problem, and we should all be ranting about it in CAPITAL LETTERS.

Very nice Haulie, what ship do you use for this ?

Edit : I meant fitting not ship

There is no red in the current system, or if there is, I haven't seen it yet.

The colors are:

Green: You can grab the can.
Yellow: You can't grab the can because you're currently grabbing a different can.
White: Out of range.

Nothing special. Anathema

Highs:
Cloak, Probe Launcher II
Mids: 1mn MWD, data analyzer II, relic analyzer II, cargo scanner II
Lows: Nanofibers (thought it would be useful if I had to chase after any cans, but I never really have to do this)
Rigs: Large grav caps (that's how long I've had this particular anathema :D)

Honestly, it's all about the cargo scanner and knowing which cans items go into.

Decryptors always go in "parts" containers. Blueprints always go in "data" containers, etc.

So, if you do a cargo scan and see one decryptor, grab parts cans until you get a decryptor. After that, you can just move on, unless you want anything else. I skip the data interface materials because they take up too much space.

If you're just grabbing the spew containers at random, you're doing it very, VERY wrong. For most containers, I can get everything I actually want from them by myself. I missed one decryptor, one stack of T2 salvage, and one blueprint that I wanted all night.

It's not really any of the above, at least for the two lowest tiers of container. From what I can tell, it's literally impossible to fail the tier 1s with a T2 analyzer. Everything dies in one click and never gets a chance to do damage. You could technically fail the tier 2s, I guess, but you would have to try.

Tier 3s (e.g., mainframes, remains), you will lose on occasion. I think I failed one round all night when I got boxed in right out of the gate by anti-virus.

Try hacking more than one site before you rageface. Plenty of loot is dropped, even in highsec you can make 40mil/hour doing these.
The hacking minigame is quite easy, just need to learn how to do it, then you can basically do it in your sleep. I can crack them in about 10 seconds on average. If you get one of your dozens of alts at the cans with you and you can multibox enough, you can tractor all the cans in easily, and get double the pre odyssey loot.

The cans are only red when someone else is tractoring one in. They all turn green at once to signal that you can click on the next can to tractor in. As far as i know there are no 'bad' cans, i think all of them have a chance of dropping something useful if you are doing difficult enough sites.

Yellow = wait for current tractor

Green = you can select the next can

Blinky = about to vanish

Red = someone else is tractoring.

Also, the timer between tractors is a set thing, if you learn the timing or just spam click the next can you dont need the colors to identify which cans.

As a colorblind person, i didnt really expect that you'd be able to tell that there were no red cans anyhow. :D

Ah. I've only done it alone, so I haven't seen red yet.

No, this is definitely not the case. Different loot is associated with different can types in what is either a deterministic or HIGHLY probabilistic fashion.

"Parts" containers = decryptors, datacores, salvage.
"Data" containers = skillbooks, blueprints
"Material" = salvage, data inferface construction mats
"Equipment" - so far seems to be junk, might contain data data interface mats, I have not grabbed many of these
"Scrap" - always seems to be junk.

I did get some salvage from "scrap" containers in testing on singularity, and assumed at the time that it was a matter of probability. My experience on TQ so far has matched the above list 100%, but I've only done maybe 15-20 sites.

well while I understand frustration of many players who used to click can and get bacon, hacking isnt really that hard.
With some practise you will hack almost everything in 1 or 2 attempts, the hardest cans in 0.0 however require max equipment and max skills and even considering that I made a reasonable amount of ISK in the recent 2 days.
So stay calm and learn hacking, man.

PS: you dont need 2 people for looting, you just need to know which cans you must pick first for getting majority of the actual loot solo.
hint: there is priority order of just 2 or 3 specific types of cans you should go for, those are different for data and relic sites. Which ones you will figure out by yourself :)

Edit: oh, I see someone already explained which can potentially contains what.

I just don't get it, I do understand ccp wanting to get more players doing other things than combat, but this seems a bit weird.
went and tried it out scan down a data site" the scanning down part is faster now" hack the site mini game.. a little bit boring and childish i found. but its a change.. but the drops seem to be a little weird.. why would a data drop have equipment / salvage/ and data in the can drops. shouldn't it be just data items.. if you do a relic site, you get parts / equipment and salvage I can see that at that site as can drops. but not a data sites. will this not cause more market issues flooding the market with equipment and salvage. you already pick these things up with npc rats in belts and npc combat sites. just think some of it is over kill and flooding the market forcing prices lower than ever..
