Best way for newbies to make 500m a month?

Get a part time job. Its usually is quicker to earn enough by that to pay for your sub + some extra in game cash the it is to grind enough to pay for both the sub and extra cash you will need.

What is the fun about grinding ISK all month just so you can / have to do the same next month.
Not forgetting that you also need backup ISK if you loose your ship or what happens if due to RL you cant play for a while.

Tl:dr

Having FUN is much much more important than to play for free.

I joined EVE with the intent of only paying for the first month, and then obtaining the rest of the ISK to pay for PLEX.

I found it was easily doable through mining. Once you train up for a Retriever, you're looking at AT LEAST 3mill ISK per run, which takes around 20 minutes to accomplish if you pay FULL ATTENTION. You'll need abount 18mill a day to get your PLEX at the end of the month, so that's more or less 6 runs you're looking at.

Realistically though, you don't really pay full attention to mining. So let's say each run takes you 30 minutes. You'll have to mine for 3 hours each run. Let's add a small buffer of one hour for random variables that might extend that time, and you're looking at 4 hours.

So yeah, let me tell you this - if you spend 4 hours mining every day, you'll be able to afford PLEX at the end of the month, which is what I started doing on my first month of EVE after I subscribed. But here is what happened - I got to about 250mill when I realized, that if I used that ISK to buy PLEX, I'd go back to having no money. At first, money isn't really an issue, because you don't even have the skills to fly or use anything expensive anyway. But that starts to change after a while, and pretty soon you will want that cool-looking faction Cruiser, but will have a hard time affording it. Plus even if you do afford it, you're already playing 4 hours a day just to play this game for free.

So I gave up, and decided not to use my ISK to buy PLEX. I'm on my third month now, with a little over 300mill ISK. I can't remember the last time I mined, but I can say that I've been having tons of fun sneaking through null-sec and running missions in my shiny ship.

I guess my message to you is that yes, if you want, turn to mining and you'll be making 500mill ISK a month. But I don't think it's worth it.

4 hours / day x 30 days = 120 hours for $20 = plex. So you're basically working that asteroid belt for a wage of 0.17 / hour.

Further, typical internet connection = $40 / month + typical computer uses 300 watts electricity = 36 kwh per month. 0.30 + 0.12 = 0.42 / hr to just have the computer on and connected to the server.

Don't fall into the mistake of trying to pay for EVE with ISK every month, not as a new player. While it's possible what you're going to end up doing is grinding the entire month to make enough money to pay for another month of grinding to make enough money to pay for another month, etc. Eve shouldn't be a second job.

It would be faster to get a second RL minimum wage job to buy plex than grind it out as a newbie mining or missioning etc.

My personal feeling is if a task in a game has the word "grind" associated with it and I'm not playing Leisure Suit Larry, then I'm not doing it.

All that said, if you insist:

These are the two least "grindy" ways I've found to make isk. I work from home so the AFK mining in L4 missions works very nice. Its stupid in my humble but accurate opinion, but as long as it exists I see no reason not to use it.

I'm a new player and have made 1.5b so far in my first 3 weeks. I made about 600m from station trading and a quick 900m by screwing over someone else's margin trading scam.

What made it possible was the 100m starting capital I got from selling the gift Gnosis from buying my initial subscription.

The answer to your question is salvaging. Shocked

Get a destroyer at first if needed.

Join a corp of mission runners to meet some people.

Make your services public. do a 50/50 split with L4 mission runners.

Get a noctis as soon as you can and get your salvage and beams up to T2.

If you are social and work at making connections you can see way way more then 500 mil a month.

Oh yeah I forgot about salvaging. Its actually even some fun. I used to make 100mil a night salvaging for the big guys in my corp. They didn't even want the stuff, so let me keep and sell it all without a split. Great bunch of guys SoK.

Scamming.

Nothing is more satisfying as a new player than to take a vet for everything he's worth.

Wildly hyperbolised i'm sure, but makes the point well.

Please don't. People like you are the REASON PLEX is 500M and not 300M as it used to be.
