Eve installer fails! Please help

I couldn't get the launcher or the repairer to work so I deleted the client and thought a fresh install would make sense.

So now when double click on the Installer program as downloaded from CCP
it says "Welcome to Eve online setup. Click next to continue" and I do that.
Then it has the TOS, and I accept that.

Then it asks me to choose the install location and I leave it on Default, and click next.

Then it runs for about 3 seconds and says "Archive extraction failed: 3."

I've cleaned out the default location. I've tried installing it to a non-default location like ccp2.
I've tried the manual install. I have all extra programs turned off including anti-virus.
I have a windows 7 system with microsoft security essentials.
Everything worked fine until this last patch.
I've filed a petition, a bug report, and am trying to post here.

A sticky above is "For those experiencing download issues with the Windows installer (271273)"
But when I try to download those files using a metalink downloader, the first one I get the same error message as stated above. And the 2nd one with the 3 files, the bottom two files I get the message "server error: 404 not found".

Anyone out there can help me please? I'll make it worth your while :)
Thanks
Avril

I'm afraid the sticky is a bit outdated. Try this.

Hi, thank you. When I try downloading the two associated files it says "server note found: 404 error"
I can't imagine why. I'm just on my home system that I've used to play eve all these years.

UPDATE: Been working on this all day. It is now allowing me to download the two associated files, the "payloads".

But the original "download eve" button in Support, when you go to install now from the installer, it still will not work.
It says "unable to find payload".
I hope new people aren't trying to download eve and running into these problems, could hurt new subscribers? I guess.

or maybe it's just me

When you have downloaded the two payloads and the installer, put them in the same folder as the description says. Now the installer should be able to detect the payloads and unzip them and install them.

If this doesn't work, one workaround is to just unzip both of the payloads into your desired installation directory (just say 'yes' if it asks you to overwrite files when unzipping the second one). This will get you a client but it won't be installed into the registry so it won't appear in the Windows Control Panel list of installed programs and you will have to create desktop and start menu shortcuts yourself.

Thank you for continuing to try and help me.
I download all three of these files to my downloads folder.
In case they're corrupt or something I'm re-downloading them all now to try again.

Separately from this I tried again going to the Support part of Eve, and there clicking "download eve" and the launcher downloads, and when I click on the launcher, when it gets to the point where it's extracting, the error message I get now is "payload not found". Never seen such errors as this in all these years.

Thanks again
