exploration question

yesterday I did the exploration tutorial. After completion I decided to go the another system and tried to scan anything down.

The only thing I found was a wormhole. Went inside and found only combat site with awakened sleepers. I m no match off course against those unknown ships so went away.

after more scanning I found a data site inside the wormhole but it also contained those ships.

now the question:

Is it worth as a new player to search for wormholes?
will they all have lots of enemies inside?
If not a wormhole but just for example a data site will they all have enemies inside?

At this moment I have no combat skills at all so wonder if I first should train in combat and get a better combat ship before scanning down signatures?

Wormholes: No, not recommended.
Data/Relic Sites: Not ones within WHs, otherwise yes.

Wormhole systems are all considered 0.0 space and have the wormholes themselves as the only method of travel between these systems. They are inhabited exclusively by the Sleeper NPCs. These NPCs are stronger than most and thus there are only a handful at any one site (in lower class wormhole systems). These sites are on a difficulty level similar to level 4 missions. The Sleepers do damage of all types and resist damage of all types as well.

While normally (since Odyssey) Data and Relic sides won't have any NPCs in them the wormhole version will still have sleepers so you'll want to avoid those sites for now.

Other key thing about wormhole systems, they have delayed local, meaning that other players won't show up in the local channel unless they say something after you showed up. This means covert operations are very powerful for use against other players there.

And since it's considered 0.0 space it has no weapon restrictions, so the use of stealth bombers and warp disruption bubbles is a big threat to you (bubbles prevent ANYTHING within them from warping unless you have a interdiction nullifier subsystem that can only be fitted to T3 Strategic Cruiser ships).

As Xercodo said, I wouldn't recommend wormholes at your level of experience and/or alone. The sleeper NPCs are no problem to deal with once you get some basic skills up and some ship-fitting knowledge, however the biggest threat to you will be other players. Wormhole systems are most often occupied, and their residents usually don't take kindly to their sites being raided. Also of course many others venture in and out of w-space systems simply looking for PvP or to prey on people running sites.

Both types of people are usually experienced, flying cloaky stuff and often come in numbers. So without a friend or an alt keeping an eye out for you it can be very dangerous territory.

That said, YES I'd definitely recommend wormholes and exploration, I live in one myself and love it, but wait until you're a little more experienced unless you don't mind learning things the hard way.

There are a couple of sites where you can punch in the wormhole's number and find lots of info. Here's just a couple of popular examples:

http://eveeye.com
http://evemaps.dotlan.net

These sites will tell you the wormhole's size among many other details.

Yes people often sell wormholes in the marketplace: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=278

However while it can be a lucrative trade, you can spend a long time trying to find an empty, viable wormhole to sell.

Theres tons of info on how to start your wormhole adventure but at a minimum you need a pretty decent battlecruiser with very good skills on those level1-2 which could be soloed but level 3 and up you will need a group
