I apologize if there was a more consolidated post relating to the undock, but I just had one suggestion for the undock.

I think I HEAR my ship's engines firing up, but I don't SEE them firing up. Would it not be 40% cooler to see your engines' exhausts start to fire up when you click undock? Currently it does not appear that they do. Conversely, they could "cool down" if you abort undock. Perhaps the art team has already thought of this and dismissed it, but even if it was just the glowly heat exhaust from the engines, it'd still be that much cooler.

I think this would lend itself to the immersion factor... that's a lot of what Odyssey is about, no?

Unless the sound of engines coming online is strangely musical, you don't hear them firing up.

As for modifications to the undock sequence, we were told on the first of those two recent livestreams that there are "significant" changes that will be coming to the undocking sequence - just not right this second. I seem to recall it's their intent to make docking and undocking seamless transitions as well. So with that in mind, you may very well get to see the engines fire up, or at least some navigational thrusters.

Where are the little helper drones that guide us out, or are repairing our ship while it's docked? It would be cool to see the CQ balcony from the ship spinning area as well.

You can see the CQ balcony, you just have to look closely

there are already a few cool touches in the hangar area, extra lights, alarm lights when you click on undock on some stations. and the minmitar station center pedestal seems to need almost constant maintenance as i occasionally see the sparks from the welding of repairs. cool touches CCP, look forward to more.

I'm not convinced those sparks are from welding.

I am, plus they are always in a different places and look different every time. Every environment of the station looks beautiful, now only to add some more things like more traffic under or around the hangar, for example in the caldari hangar theres a lots of little docking areas and passageways, there could be speeders flying in and out of those.

Actually, I thought it would be awesome to actually, you know, have the ship traverse through the undocking process...

Let me say this again in a different way.

You're docked in a Minmatar station and there are sparks. This part is normal and not out of place at all

I am not, however, convinced those sparks are from welding. More like they're from broken conduit or something arcing.

In regards to Laendra's comment, CCP has indicated that they eventually want docking and undocking to be just as seamless as system jumps. So, that traversing you want will be included.

I thought it would be nice if the ship in the hanger moved forward when you clicked undock. Might not be so easy ofcourse.

I'd love to see the ship lift up and move towards the exit (after undock can no longer be aborted). Engine sounds would be a nice touch too!

I have been watching for any kind of "new" undock animation, I'm not seeing anything.

Nadda, zip, zilch.

I click undock, nothing happens, then after some amount of time I am just in my ship moving away from the undock area.

edit

I get it now, you have to be in the hanger to see it, interesting.
