Mintchip has promoted the game for years. If you look over the comments on her youtube channel, there are many many people that say "I tried EVE because of your videos."

She did promote Eve. This is indeed a fact. It was the end of that promoting and how it ended and how she handled herself during dramatic :grimdark: that has people questioning her.

Quote:
She has a way of making the game interesting to people that don't know the game. Dust could use that kind of promotion.

I won't comment on her abilities as an employee as I do not know her skill set. I will let her actions speak.

I think that very same thing that makes her successful, annoys the hell out of the 'leet PvPers and hardcore eve types. They all think they could do better and don't understand why people tune in. And yes, maybe they could do better ... at making a video cast that they, the 'leets, would be interested in. But that doesn't justify heaping crap on someone.

I honestly didn't care much for her casts. When she quit and got upset, I also did not care. She did not affect my game anymore and people quitting was nothing new. It's just the history that has me 'wat.'

You sure post a lot for a guy who cares so little.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

Pretty quiet in the forum today. Maybe even more so after the devs go through this thread.

I have to say that these ban waves provide a nice respite from the trolls and asshats for a brief while.

You are one to talk. You posted a wall of text to hide the fact that you were reopening the "let's slag on the CCP Mintchip" thread(s), against forum rules. Your "high horse" is the height of hypocrisy.

Who said I care so little about her being hired? My lack of caring was before her employment. Nice straw man though.

Except OP wasn't. They started a civil thread airing a concern without bashing. Your interpretation is irrelevant as it is not credible, considering you want to label the thread in such a way as to get it shut down.

Maybe I am just too intelligent to understand the common rabble but I just do not understand why so many people are so butthurt that they would threaten to leave the game because a kinda annoying 5/10 was hired as a community rep for Dust 514. I just don't see how this impacts your Eve experience at all, much less to drive you to weep and gnash your teeth on the forums about how you are pulling all eleventy billion of your accounts if they don't fire someone.

You know, someone who would then be unemployed because the assumption is they left some other job to go work for CCP. Nice that you don't care if that person ends up homeless or not or has what is perhaps a dream job for them.

I mean, I am not a fan of hers at all but this rage just baffles me. Ignore her twitter feed if it really gets you that angry and keep blowing up internet spaceships content and secure that Rise and Fozzy will be guiding the future for us.

Yeah yeah, subject line is cryptic and body doesn't get to the point until meandering for paragraphs... I know a smoke screen when I see one.

The post was more civil than many, I'll grant you that.

Having read through this thread and the deleted one, this 'loathing' isn't universal, not even amongst the subset of people that use the forums.

The keyword is subset. Not all people use the forums. While the anger can't be accurately measured across the whole of Eve based on forum goers, you COULD do a random sample of a few thousand people but...that's another story and me getting researchy.

It's nothing to do with sample sizes. You've quite consistently made out that "the community" has an issue with her hiring - it doesn't, a small, vocal minority of people within it do.

Although - if I concede that the sample size is too small or we don't have enough information on what the larger playerbase thinks, it then follows that it can't be claimed that a majority, or "the community" has opposition to her hiring either.

Anslo wrote:

This is about her disposition towards the game and wanting to know why someone so against the :grimdark: of Eve was hired. I honestly don't care about her resume.

Sure, you can want to know, but you don't have a right to demand answers. CCP may or may not choose to make a statement about it. I'd imagine it would be quite difficult to answer it in a way that might satisfy everyone without revealing personal information from the hiring process. But to be honest, it's really none of our business. As long as she doesn't have a negative impact on the game, it's not your business. It's CCP's call.

Anslo wrote:

The bit about what she brings to the table is pretty much irrelevant - she's already been hired, the decision has been made. How it was arrived at is not really our concern.

No, it is not irrelevant as it is a possible explanation for her hiring. The anti-questioning and pro-obedience rhetoric from people on these forums is getting absurd.

"Question nothing. You don't need to know. Sit down and play or leave. Obey."
Roll

That's pretty much right. Until she does something that negatively impacts on your game, at least - then you actually have concrete grounds for opposing her being in her post. You want an explanation for her hiring? Tough, really. That's between her and CCP.

As opposed to rage thread #316 with defamatory remarks? It was a good way to keep the vitriol out and the conversation in.

I used the term community as a catchall phrase. I apologize if it was misleading. But additionally, the contra to the claim cannot be proven either save for the threadnaughts. But I believe if you explained who this person is and why the outrage occurred, you would see similar disapproval.

We have the right to demand what we want. You don't dictate that. When a company champions its relationship to the community, it should not shove them off and tell them to obey when the community members ASK something simple. 'Why did you hire someone who doesn't like, and bad mouths often, Eve?'

If that works for you than fine. Inquiring minds however, would like an explanation.

As opposed to go out, smell the flowers, do work, meet people, play EVE when feeling like it and not break rules, or try to skirt around them.

As far as I can see, this thread has not skirted around any rules. It is calmly and logically bringing to question the addition of an individual.

Considering the hiring of this individual does not impact you or even the game Eve at all I fail to see why this is even your concern as to who CCP wants to be a community rep for Dust.
