The following information is of a graphic nature concerning top secret Amarrian genetic research, reader discretion is advised.

In the year 23218AD having recently been defeated by the Jove Navy at the Battle of Vak'Atioth, and finding itself in the midst of the Minmatar rebellion, the Amarr Empire was desperate to not only find a way of squashing the Minmatar rebels, but also sought a method with which to neutralize the Jovian Directorate and continue it's reclaiming of the Jovian Empire. It was with these goals in mind that the Human Endurance Department with special appropriations from the Ministry of Internal Order, began work on an extremely classified and heretical project known as "Project Kanijo". The following information is denied by the Amarr Empire.
Using DNA taken from recovered Jovian corpses, the HED created a heavily modified version of the Vitoc virus. This virus was then introduced into specially selected Kameira soldiers chosen for their strong physique and aggressive personality traits. After a brief infection period semen was withdrawn from the soldiers, and using insemination methods perfected by the Caldari State's eugenics program, introduced into Ni-Kunni surrogates. Originally Brutor slaves were considered for the role of surrogate, but it was later decided that the genealogical history of the slaves was not reliable enough to ensure the desired results, pure blood Ni-Kunni, being of strong stock with a verified genealogical history stretching back to the deserts of Mishi IV were instead used. The intended result was a hybrid humanoid with the intelligence quotient of a Jovian, the cunning of a Ni-Kunni, combined with the strength, aggressiveness, pain threshold, and obedience of a Kameira soldier. Legions of these hybrid soldiers would then, as a "final solution", be dropped into population centers of Jovian and Minmatar planets, spreading ever outwards, slaughtering everyone in their wake without discrimination or concern for their own well being.
Unforunately the project was a failure. Out of 300,000 surrogates only 10% were able to carry the fetuses to term. Two hundred and seventy thousand Ni-Kunni women gave their lives in service to the empire, dieing from various pregnancy related complications. HED scientists concluded that the bulk of these fatalities were due to mental breakdowns, surrogates reported intense emotional trauma experienced from sharing consciousness with a fetus that contained, according to the surrogates, the genetic memory of the Jove, most were driven to suicide, others died during the delivery process from unknown causes.
Of the five thousand Kanijo infants that were successfully concieved, only three hundred survived to maturity, the majority perishing during adolescence from the jovian illness, which was believed to have been removed during the initial production of the virus. The Amarr Empire having only three hundred of it's projected three hundred thousand super soldiers, and aware of a possible psychic connection between the Kanijo and the Jove, scrubbed plans to use the Kanijo in attacks on Jovian and Republic space.
The current status of tha Kanijo soldiers is unknown, it is presumed that the Amarr Empire executed them out of concern that intelligence may be leaked to the Jove, though uncomfirmed rumors persist that the surviving Kanijo were rescued by the Jovian Directorate, believing that their DNA may contain a cure for the jovian illness, while others claim a small group of the Kanijo were spared and serve in the Amarr Navy's Imperial Capsuleer Division to this day.
