Random Screen Freeze / forced Steam login

so, i got myself this nifty steam sale eve online for 5€, installed it, started up and get logged in instantly in the launcher with my current steam name.

now, here is the problem, after i play 30 minutes or more i get some random screen freeze and have to kill the exe.
i tried the repair exe and its downloading some 23mb files, but thats not helping, still got crashes.

can i login through my fine working non steam installation with the steam account and if yes how? (do i have to change the steam name for it to not be invalid?)

EDIT: PLZ EVE Online, make it possible for me to login into my steam account without being forced to use the steam installation and the "sign in through steam" button on the website.
an option to set a login name + password so i can login with my default eve installation would be much appreciated.
