I am referring to exploration in your Odyssey patch.

Ulysses spent a considerable amount of time searching for those things he aimed to find. He didn't just bump into them. Get your facts straight. Read up the book (it's a masterpiece, you won't regret it) and do your research before coming up with a patch name like Odyssey that has contradicting content.

This is new and different.
And, like Ulysses, should go far.
Away.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Ulysses knew that these things existed, then set out to find them.

And make sure you read Homer's "Odyssey" for that story, since James Joyce's "Ulysses" is a completely different creature.

Couldn't have said that better myself. In exploration terms this translates to

I believe there must be a few sigs in this system, let the scanning begin!

If CCP aimed to get more people to explore, they could add more valuable loot at the end. I can understand a more simplified scanning process, but lighting up the scanable sites like that makes zero sense.

That's all about. Nothing more, nothing less.
Could those have been done 5 years ago? For shure.
Do they add something, for real? Not so shure.

And definitely don't pick up Finnegan's Wake by mistake, if you read all of that you die by head explosion.

ITT people who haven't read Homer.

Odysseus/Ulysses doesn't want to explore, he isn't the least bit interested in the unknown, all he wants to do is get back home - but being too smart (and too full of himself) for his own good he continues to **** off Poseidon (which isn't a great idea when traveling by sea...).
Once he is back home and has ordered his domestic affairs his own people want to murder him because he has by now killed 2 generations of Ithacans (his comrades from the Trojan war and the suitors).

Reading this thread one has the impression that Odysseus was some sort of Jason, exploring the world with his intrepid argonautes searching for some valuable treasure.

Nope, he is a man who doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut, who his a terrible leader (how often does he allow his crew to screw things up even further...) and whose comrades have a way of dying around him.
And throughout all of this he simply doesn't develop as a person. In the end he has to rely on Athene to pull him out of the ****.

Since this thread is going places i thought id hop on and say that im not sure why the scanning things that spins round cant be turned off and why it looks like a crazy-paving patio, its the future things are meant to be smooth and cool. I guess minmatar crated the scanner?

Is this what all the cool kids these days call a troll?

I can't tell.

But in terms of any kind of value, its sadly lacking.

From the OED; "(odyssey) a long and eventful or adventurous journey or experience"

Hmm dont see anything that contradicts any ethos of EvE.

And Ulysses is one of the single worst books ever written.

Shame on you.
