Archive extraction failed: 3 - Impossible for me to install EVE

Hi guys,

So stupid mistake on my part ... everything was running great with my EVE. I have a 500gb hard drive on my PC that had nothing but EVE installed on it. I have a hotswap drive as well amongst other things. For some unknown stupid reason I thought I was on a different drive and selected my EVE folder for deletion thinking it was an old install on another HDD.

Sure enough that was my actual EVE install directory.

Presently for the last two days I have been trying to reinstall EVE on this computer with absolutely 0 success.

I've tried cleaning all temp files, cleaned registry for anything old, checked uninstall options, online installer, offline installer, and repair tool.

No matter what I try I get "archive extraction failed: 3". Or when using the repair tool I get an error has occurred using the tool and to go seek help on the forums. At this point I have run out of all possible ideas ... does anyone have any suggestions?

Im having this exact same problem. After about 6 days now. Im ready to call it quits and get my money back.

I might have some good news ... I noticed that the build number on the offline installer is now different then it was yesterday. It's now eveonline_549507. At this point I've downloaded the 3 files and have progressed to half of the extracting files bar. Much further then before. I'll update if it works.

Alright, so 549507 allowed me to install. At this point I can get back onto the launcher, but the launcher will not validate. It sits at "Validating Cilent: 0.0%"

Attempting to use the repair tool nets me "An error occurred during the repair"

It should not be this difficult to install a game




SUCCESS! Disabling spybot S&D allowed the launcher to validate.
