[IDEA] Overview Tabs Have Different Columns

This idea is concerning how the overview handles the viewable columns and the information available with those options. I believe this is a very nice feature to implement and I would like to discuss this and see if it is something that could be added into the game.

I find it needed sometimes to show the Alliance/Corp ticker. I also find it just adds to the clutter at other times.

I was very unhappy to find that I cannot change this across tabs. My "PVP" tab shows ship type and Alliance/Corp ticker and I feel these things are important. However, when just using my "Travel" tab, I find these things completely useless. And, I have no interest in knowing what the velocity of the Station or Sun is when trying to warp to them.

Would it be possible to have different columns show up in different tabs?

Thank you.

The overview-feature could use some improvement overall.

There is no horizontal scrollbar (anywhere, actually).

If I change what shows in a tab, and then save, it should have the tab's name as default name. It becomes tedious to always have to write the tab name for each tab for each change.

I would like to change the order of the tabs.

It should be easier to see, what is the current brackets layout of a tab.

It should be easier to create layouts (what items are visible / hidden in a tab / brackets). Currently there is tons of stuff to add / remove, but if I just want to quickly create some tab it is not so clear what are NPC structures, what are player structures, etc...

Add separate layout window where I create layouts (settings), that I can then assign to tabs. Or if there is one, then make it more obvious, which layout is in which tab. Now I see only tab name, but how do I see what layout the tab has?

If I add something directly to tab, it should go to the tab only, unless I tick that it goes to the layout, too. I mean, if I delete a tab, then I need to know is the added item also in the layout or not.

I would like to hide / show tabs that are saved instead of just adding new tabs.

There are some decent ideas here. I would love to see other people get involved in this discussion

Thank you.

I was REALLY surprised when I realised that tabs did not have individual settings for columns. I mean, come on.

Having started quite recently I find many elements of GUI to be very unusual and raw compared to what I have come to expect of software customisation.

For a game that is set in a super high-tech environment, we have surprisingly few really good tools available.

I can't understand why we don't have a visual tracking and range indicator in the HUD. Seriously, that is the first thing I would develop if I was building a spaceship. Inb4 too noobfriendly, it's a basic tool everyone would make use of, and it's completely illogical why there is no such thing.

while (CurrentSelectedTarget.Status == ShipStatus.Alive) {

     _myShip.FireAllGuns(CurrentSelectedTarget);

}

I support the idea.

Generally, and personally, I believe the only sure way to make UI to live up to the tech advancement of the game world would be decoupling it from game itself and allow players modding it, which is rather not going to happen, I'm afraid. Because of bots and because many people are afraid it would cause plugins arms race. (The second thing don't really have to be that bad: if the UI is easy enough for modding, it should be also easy enough for CCP to incorporate good ideas into mainline).

Big ol' bump. The lack of this feature recently annoyed me when I tried to set up a mining tab for looking for the nearest asteroid. I usually have a Velocity column to better keep track of ships, but obviously I don't need to know how not-fast the asteroids aren't moving. Please, CCP, implement separate column settings for different tabs.
