Wondering about all the people surprised about ship and skill changes. They've been announced for quite a while.

Not everyone is a veteran, some of us newer players have other things to read about, when starting my Eve career I decided what I wanted to fly, the only way I knew how to find this out was to check the prerequisites on the ship tab, Oooh Fenrir requires

1. Spaceship Command IV
2. Spaceship Command V
3. Advanced Spaceship Command I
4. Minmatar Frigate III
5. Minmatar Industrial I
6. Minmatar Industrial II
7. Minmatar Industrial III
8. Minmatar Industrial IV
9. Minmatar Industrial V
10. Minmatar Freighter I

Fast forward to patch day it now requires Advanced Spaceship Command to level V and Minmatar Industrial to level III. Had I known that when looking at ships in game I would have saved a lot of time and effort. I had no problem Plexing for ISK to buy a Fenrir. Now I have 25 more days of training to look forward to. Or not as I don't think I can be bothered chasing moving goal posts.

Feel bad for ya but the announcement of goalpoasts were moving was made in plenty of time.
Dev blogs. Forum threads. Articles on tmc and eve reddit. The sidebar of eve reddit had a list and someone made a timer.
Its useful to at least occasionally check the above sources every so often so surprises are avoided

Anyone who is upset about the freighter requirements really 'didn't get EVE'. They did you a favor. I can fly all the freighters, I never do.

I botched the patch too. I only have Caldari Cruiser on this character and while I had BC to 5, I only got credit for Caldari BC 5. No Amarr, Gall or Mini. Ask me if I care?

I lost BC V less than a week to patch day

Look to the sky to see the amount of f*cks I gave.

All the information was out there, but that's what I love about this game, it's so damn unforgiving!

My gank-'toon only made it a fraction of teh way past BC IV. Observe my copious tears.

Wait... Where did my tears go? I *know* I had some around here somewhere...

Don't worry, that's just because you're new. After a while, you'll be pining for the time when you only had to wait 25 days for a skill to train.

This one time, a year ago, they mentioned a change with desi and BC skills, and I trained them all to 5 with no implants or remaps, also trained all the racial frigs and cruisers to 5 and the BS to at least 4 (although all of them are 5s now). This was all on a rumor.

Then it happened...a DEV blog! no wait.....a couple DEV blogs! They told us EXACTLY what to do in order to get free SP! Glorious day! And all of this was in plenty of time to train all those skills up with no implants or remaps!

But then, the dark times. Many a thread were spawned asking questions about what was clearly explained. Most procrastinated. Many demands were made about free remaps and SP reimbursements because of new skill prereqs that wouldnt happen for months, all the while no skills were updated, no plans for the future were made. The entitlement ran rampant.

So today we have the few who cry the tears of lament about the skills they should have gotten, but didnt have time to complete. Whining about how the dreaded downtime of the weekend effected their skill queues and they didnt get their free SP. Why those skills were being trained at the last minute is a mystery no one will solve.

EVE.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I actually prepped BC V on my main, and inserted CalFreighter on my indy alt, precisely because I knew that someday I'd want to use 'em.

While I currently only train for Caldari ships, if I ever wanted to, say, use a Sansha or Guristas BC...

Every time I see one of these threads I can't help but think of Douglas Adams....

"But Mr Dent, the plans have been available in the local planning office for the last nine months."
"Oh yes, well as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn't exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them, had you? I mean, like actually telling anybody or anything."
"But the plans were on display ..."
"On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them."
"That's the display department."
"With a flashlight."
"Ah, well the lights had probably gone."
"So had the stairs."
"But look, you found the notice didn't you?"
"Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."

Is it too late to train BC 5?

Should I start a new thread about it just in case?
