How to turn off launching all probes, and not enforce a formation

Hi,
I've read the release notes / dev blog a few times and maybe I'm just missing it (I hope so!) - can anyone help?

1) How do you set it so only a single probe is launched when you click the launcher ?

2) How do you set it so the probes do NOT get made into a formation?

I'm finding that to set individual probes into specific locations doesn't seem possible, even if I launch all then recall all except 1, when I click scan they all get put into a formation far from where I set them anyway.

The purpose here is to clear/ignore previously bookmarked sites, such as rescanning your wormhole. Maybe there is a New Way to do this now, I didn't notice it though.

TIA

1. Only load 1 probe into the launcher.

2. Haven't logged-in today yet. I seem to recall there being a blog (written or video) on this though.

Sounds like what you really want to do is just move around independent probes, which can still be done. It's either alt, or shift, or alt-shift, or somesuch combination of modifier keys to do it. They changed it at some point during testing and I don't recall what they landed on.

1) You don't, and it doesn't matter, either. The point behind launching one probe was either to not wait through six or seven more cycles of probe-launching, or to use the survey probe trick where you could figure out what sites were in system by the percentages that came up. Waiting to launch the rest of your probes is fixed, survey probes no longer exist, there's no reason to launch only one probe now. (Admittedly, you've got to remember to reload the launcher if you only carry eight probes.)

2) You can't. There have been rumblings from CCP about the possibility of adding your own custom formations, and I hope they get to that Soon because I like slightly different arrangements than they use by default, but, for the moment, can't. Hold down SHIFT to grab and move one probe at a time, and you can make your own formations just like the Days Of Olde Last Weeke.

Very, very mad about this ******** noob friendly probing system! Being able to launch 1 probe is very necessary, leaving probes deployed in multiple systems is very necessary, I going to use the tags for sec status to kill every explorer in Eve! If you have 8 probes out, your dead!

I loaded four probes into the launcher and shot those out. I used Shift to drag the probes into the square arrangement I wanted. Afterwards, resizing them (without pressing any keys) worked pretty well and I scanned down what I wanted. I recalled the probes and jumped to the next system.

Upon launching four probes in the next system, they adopted the same formation I had just used. So, if you're using the same formation every time, I don't think it will be too much of a headache to set it up the way you want it the first time, with Shift.

Of course, if you want to use different formations for different purposes, then yeah, I'd imagine that's a pain in the butt.

Now, that I hadn't noticed. New probing is even more easier than I thought!

ah, but I just found out -- the pattern appears to get wiped when you log out. I just relaunched four probes and they're back in a gimped arrangement. oh well, I guess I'll live with it until they put in custom patterns.
