exploration income is going down if all systems have 10+ data / relic signatures >.<

I've been exploring all afternoon, and I've gotten only about twelve million ISK total in goodies of only a couple of items. The rest has been garbage bits and pieces.

So far, you may find a lot of them, but that doesn't mean you'll find anything worthwhile.

im 80% sure if u highlight the floating cans they are named diferently and give better loot. eg dont go for "spare parts container" in a data site

My primary focus has been the data caches, and with those, I mostly get junk. With the other items I get, I've only found the occasional bits of equipment, the same equipment I would gather from salvaging wrecks.

Overall, I stand by what I stated before.

Scanned and looted around 20+ data/relic sites and the income is ridiculous.

Absolutely not worth it ISKwise.... shame because it's actually fun now.

You must be doing it wrong. Cuz even with the annoying loot spew I'm pulling in slightly better per site than I did pre-Odyssey. And that's even without getting the faction tower BPC (which let me tell you, pissed me off royally).

Add into that the fact that they've apparently altered the site respawn mechanics so that they reappear much much quicker (if not instantaneously). At this point I'm actually kinda concerned that the market will crash due to over-abundance and it really won't be worth it ISK-wise.

What can I be doing wrong? :)

It really depends what you're used to getting ISKwise from other endeavours.
Of course you get SOME isk... but it's certainly in the low lower tier of isk/time spent income list.
A dozen or so people I talked to in-game who tried it said the same thing.

I'd be genuinely happy if you can show me evidence to the contrary since I enjoy exploring very much.

You are probably grabbing the wrong cans from the loot spew. Can types contain specific types of loot (eg. Data cans have the BPCs). But if you are grabbing the Scrap & Equipment containers, it's no huge surprise your haul isn't that good. Use a Cargo Scanner ahead of time to know what to focus on.

And when I said pre-Odyseey I was referring to Exploration. The current Data sites are a slightly more profitable than the old Radars if you know what cans to grab. Yeah, it's an annoying mechanic that doesn't add anything beneficial to the game. But it's here to stay, so best get used to it.

The amount of sigs and their respawn depends on the number of people scanning, right? So it shouldn't be surprise that there are lots of sigs when everybody is trying out the new scanning and sites.

Wait, what? What is your parameter called "Scanning"? If 10 People are using probes in a system there are more sites spawning than if only one guy is scanning with probes there?

I have no idea how the details work but the amount of sigs is scaling somehow afaik. For instance on Sisi ther's always way less sigs then on TQ due to way smaller population. In nullsec the sigs are tied to the industry index. Don't know what is responsible in high and low.

Or that's how it works. On Sisi there are actualy clusters of sigs. You can jump through a lot of systems finding nothing and then suddenly boom thers tons of them in a single system.

I flew through about 15 systems after work last night (western US TZ), and while I "found" a grav site in virtually every system (left untouched, I might add), I didn't find a single radar/ladar/combat site. Gone. Gobbled up.

And no, I have no intention of sitting around for four hours waiting for a new spawn (or whatever we've all decided on is the respawn time for exploration sites). Went out with gf and had a great evening instead.

Loving the new mechanics so far. Cool

Just pure luck but i did 20+ data/relic sites and got garbage, then i did like 2 combat sites (this is all high sec) and got 20M worth of C-type (3 pieces i think) equiptment from the guarded cans in a 2/10

Well to be fair the high sec relic sites were generally pretty low value before as well with occasional high spots of finding a random bit of t2 salvage or small pile of armor plates (still not much value). The data sites did seem to be a bit better before because you didn't miss important bits because it was in that parts container and not this one, but think that might get better with practice.

any tips on exploration in nullsec? did 40 jumps through empty nullsec yesterday and found not a single site. :( So the sites are only spawning in active ratting systems (which are of course bubbled and camped like sh*t?)?

i think it's pretty easy to sum up after reading a bunch of threads and posting some and talking to corpmates, strangers, etc. in game.

if you never ran exploration before - you'll think it's worthwhile. especially because the sites are VERY easy to find and spawn VERY frequently.

if you used to do radar sites in the past - you'll find the new system is not worth your time for the ISK compared to what it used to be - it was far more lucrative in the past.

factor in now the increased number of players running the sites... and you can pretty much write it off as a serious isk making endeavor. that said, it is pretty fun. it's just an utter waste of time.

Idk I've been doing good. Some neut decided to try and ninja a site in one of our systems. Popped him an made 100mil from his loot and another 40 from the site. Working as intended ;)

So far RNG has been working in my favor I guess. I did a few highsec sites and did pull in a huge amount though it was around the same as it was pre expansion. I was in a quiet area and decided to jump into lowsec. Guess I hit the jackpot. Pulled in over 500 million isk worth of stuff from just two systems. So big paydays still exist. The only problem is now I'm completely ruined and even a decent amount of loot will feel like pocket change in comparison
