The contest is a joke. The best story didn't win. In some occasions CCP you need to have a body or two who will add it's own weight to a certain competition. Or else Goons/Test related things will always win.

For example: CSM and some CCP representatives.

In this situation the power is given to the numbers instead to the quality.

BALEX, bringing piracy on a whole new level.

...So, votes actually DO count something, huh?

Mittens' addiction for the icy isle is quite commendable, however. The place is very nice, and justifies whipping the bulk of your 30'000 slaves to get free trips there.

So your problem is that the number of people who liked a story determines the winner of a contest to determine the most popular EvE story?

This result is pretty disappointing. All of these stories are from nullsec. While it's not surprising that most submissions would come from there, you cannot tell me that of all the submissions that came in, none featured stories from high or lowsec or from Faction Warfare? And while we can all agree that the Guiding Hand Social Club is one of the BEST stories to come from any MMO ever, did we really need to award it here? Everybody who has played EVE knows about it and it has been universally acknowledged as amazing, so it feels a bit like "piling on". Same thing with the disbanding of BoB -- yes, it's part of game history, but is it one of the best "stories"? Erhm. I feel like a few of these would belong on a list of "Best Histories" -- stories that we've already acknowledged belong to the archive of outstanding events, but which in themselves are not more or less compelling as "stories".

I like that there's a balance here of large scale and small scale stories here, but there is a preponderance of the usual suspects here. Just feels like a list of acknowledgements, not a list of truly great "stories".

I guess this is a predictable outcome of submitting these things to a vote. Nullsec critical mass voting carries the day again. What a victory for "storytelling".

Yep, because its sucks ballz.

There should be 3 bodies. Players, CCP and CSM. Take the average votes of all those bodies and u get a pretty much fair and plausible system.

BALEX, bringing piracy on a whole new level.

Debating whether a story was good or not doesn't mean it was liked.

I submitted a story myself, and I am a relatively unknown pilot in Eve. And yet my story got at least 3 likes.

I'm honestly disappointed at some of the stories that were written as a series of informative sessions involving nothing more than information about a killmail. There were very few stories written in a narrative sense, giving CCP a better ability for writing such scenes out.

With popularity of Goonswarm, TEST, and such, there was no way that any story other than The Mittani's was going to win.

Lesser writers get ignored. Names show a bigger place.

I guess it was the thought that counted CCP. Hopefully you are smart enough pick the good stories by hand and not go by some meta gamed results for the TV series and comic book.

That is because nothing of any note or interest happens in high sec. Except the yearly trip to burn Jita.

So what you are saying is you want the system rigged so that whoever or whatever you consider to be worthy wins, not the popular vote. Who are your heroes Stalin, Mao and Chavez?

can someone point out a better story than those that were selected #1 and #2 by the community through a voting process?

this is objectively incorrect, as demonstrated through the unbiased system that permitted anyone in eve to read the stories and vote upon them
