Is this legal?

Yesterday I had a strange experience during mining. When I got to a belt there were about 40+ ships mining, most of them were Procurers around a big ship where they loaded up their ore, and all of them had the same name like Spritti01, Spritti02, etc, up to Spritti43. I checked the info and all of them had the same pilot, Sprittie. I doublechecked it, because I thought there is no way to control more than one ship, but it seems the guy managed it somehow.
The procurers cleaned up the entire belt in about ten minutes and warped out.
Is this legal? And if so, how is that possible? How can you have control of fourty ships?

If this is a legal way, then I guess I have to change my profession, there is no point struggling with two strip miners against this.

if he has paid or plexed all of them on separate accounts I don't see anything wrong with it.

Unless of course he's using third party software to control them all but i don't think so since strip miners have like a 3 minute cycle he has more than enough time to change rocks.

43 ships -> 3 minute cycle time -> 180 / 43 = 4.2 seconds per ship to scan, target and start mining 2 or 3 new roids? And then splitting it out over an entire belt ... and getting them to drop off ore and get back to mining.

Either very inefficient or very very good with computers ;)

Sounds like someone who uses ISBoxer too me. That program is legal.

Ooh and you can have as many accounts as you wanted too.

Wow, I've looked up ISBoxer... I guess, that's the solution, but this is soooooo lame... :)

Well if that's legal there's nothing more to do. I hope there are not many more of these losers around.

It remains a hell of a nice way to burn 44 x 15 dollars a month, or waste many many hours earning the 44 x 550 million isk for the plexes :)

Did you look for another belt or get jealous and give up? Nothing stopping you from making an army of miners if that's what you want to do.

There's also nothing to stop you having some fun at his expense by fitting a cruiser with a MWD and using it to play pinball with his ships and bumping them away from the 'roids, the rage and tears can be extremely amusing.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

If I can have as many accounts as I like to, is it legal to:
1. create 5-10 tryal accounts per day,
2. fish 5-10 mio from buddy programs of different players
3. spend those mio on the market
4. load goods into cargo hold
5. abandon rocky ship.
6. go to main account and board abandoned ship.
7. sell the cargo.

I went to another system and continue mining. Jealous is not the word I would use. I'm not jealous I just simply think if there's a guy who can vacuum a whole system in an hour and left no mineable asteroid and there will be more of them it will simply kill the mining for others. There will be no point mining with one ship the "normal" way. But if it happens I start something else, I'm trained in other things too. Nothing to be jealous.
I understand that I can do the same, but it's really far from what I want to do, but I guess everyone enjoys different things. Me for example never felt the need to blow up weaker ships in low-sec just because they are there...

You only get the rewards if you subscribe the trial accounts, so if you want to pay for 5-10 subscriptions just to get a couple billion ISK suppose you could. Pretty inefficient way of going about things. Buying 5-10 PLEX and selling them would probably get you more ISK for the same RL money.

Not any more. If you check buddy invite thread you will find Ace offering 7 mio, Vhei offering 5 mio without obligations or need to upgrade account. I believe I saw someone else, who offered even 10 mio jusst for using his buddy link for tryal...

well if enoguht people started abusing it then they simply stop offering tne isk. they are hoping that the early no obligation isk earns them all the buddy invites and that enough of these end up subscribing to turn a profit.

Yes, but this is not the question. The question is "is it legal" to create few tryal accounts per day ? Cause with current offer EVE can ends up having more accounts, than total population of the planet ;)

Not really he would get a free plex on the sponsering account + use the ones he plexed for a month as an army of miners, making him a $zillion. If you are the kind of player who buys 10-20 plex a year it is good way to earn a serious bonus on top of your plex as long as you calculate in the time to mine them.

Still way too maniac for me...

Yeah, this isn't new, and people have been doing it for years, so you may as well check the doomsday prophecy at the door.

I think this whole multiboxing is killing the game experience. On the other hand if any player is better then me, faster or does things more efficient and this way gets ahead of me it's fine, but this method is cheating in my eyes even if it's legal.
