Im in the same thing, started with EVE 2-3 days ago from a web invitation to the buddy program, when the DDoS stopped.
Today I boughted EVE from Steam Midweek Madness, how can I do to add that Starter Pack to this account? There's a tutorial somewhere over the rainbow?

I tried to sign up with my Steam account on the web BUT "There's no EVE account on that user Steam" or something like that appeared.

EDIT: Im afraid of installing the game via Steam and mess it all.

EVE Online FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Last updated: 9:10GMT, 04/01/2011

This FAQ aims to answer the questions about purchasing EVE Online on Steam, the differences between Steam and non-Steam accounts and so on...

PURCHASING EVE ONLINE VIA STEAM
What happens when I buy EVE Online from the Steam store?
When you buy EVE Online from the Steam Store, the full game client gets added to your Steam Library. You also receive a CD key along with your client (you can access this CD key anytime you want from your library). Upon purchasing the game from the store, you are prompted to create an account using the CD key you received.

What can I do with the CD key I receive from a Steam purchase of EVE Online?
You can do two things with the CD key you receive when purchasing EVE Online on Steam:
Create a new EVE Online account
What you need to do to activate your EVE Online account through Steam is to open your Steam client, right click on EVE Online under "My Games" and select "properties". You will see a option there to visit the EVE Online account website. Select the option and you will be directed to a section of the official EVE Online website to start your sign up process.

Upgrade an already-existing EVE Online account
You can use the CD key you receive on Steam to upgrade an EVE Online account you created for the trial/demo version of EVE Online on Steam or the trial/demo version of EVE Online you created on the official game website (outside of Steam).
Do I have to wait for my trial to end to activate my CD key I bought on Steam? Will I lose any free/trial days left if I don't want to wait?
No, you won't lose any game time, no matter when you upgrade your account. Depending on your trial (14 or 21 days) you'll get a total of 44 or 51 days of free game time, even if you upgrade your account right away.

I don't own a credit card. Will I still be able to subscribe and play?
Most likely: Depending on your location CCP offers alternate payment methods using direct debit, PayPal, Paysafe-Cards or Prepaid Cards (sold by third party vendors as well).

Do I have to buy all the expansions for EVE Online, such as Tyrannis or Incursion?
No, all the expansions for EVE Online are free and are automatically installed in the client when they are released. Expansions are not optional as they are game-changing updates that are applied to all game clients automatically.

NON-STEAM EVE ONLINE ACCOUNTS AND STEAM
Can I use the CD key I receive from a Steam purchase of EVE Online to upgrade an already existing trial (demo) account created outside of Steam?
Yes, you can use the CD key you receive with a purchase of EVE Online on Steam to upgrade trial accounts or create new full accounts both made with the Steam demo of EVE Online and through the official website (outside of Stema)

How long does the CD key last for after purchasing it on Steam?
You can use the CD key you are supplied with on purchase of EVE Online from Steam whenever you want. It does not expire, so for example you can buy EVE Online from a sale and retain the CD key for another time.

MULTIPLE EVE ONLINE ACCOUNTS ON STEAM
Can I have multiple Steam purchases of EVE Online on a single Steam account?
No. You may only have one purchase (Steam-obtained CD key) of EVE Online on one Steam account at a time. However, if you want to create another EVE Online using a Steam purchase, you can create another Steam account (for free) and buy EVE Online for your new Steam account; create a full EVE Online account using the CD key you get during purchase and then you can log in with that new game account using any client (see below). Therefore, if you want, you can then abandon the new Steam account as your EVE Online account has been created using the CD key you obtained during purchase.

Can I use the same email address for multiple accounts in EVE Online?
Yes. However, the account names that you use as part of your log-in credentials (an account name and password is all is that required in-game for logging in) need to be different.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NON-STEAM AND STEAM EVE ONLINE CLIENTS
Do I have to use the Steam client for EVE Online to log in to and play the game?
No. The game client you download through Steam is like any other game client - you can log in with any account, create outside or inside the Steam store, on any client.

The game offers me to download an update for the patch. Doesn't Steam keep my game up to date?
The game uses its own update mechanism. Steam won't apply every single update published by CCP immediately. Keeping the game up to date is required to be able to play. You might have to update your game again (checked at launch) if you use Steam's property dialog to verify file integrity.

GAMEPLAY, TRIAL ACCOUNTS AND SUBSCRIPTIONS
I still have to upgrade my account/buy a CD key. I'd like to try some more advanced ships but I can't train the skills.
Some skills are limited to subscribed accounts and cannot be trained on trial accounts. Examples include skills required for different ships, e.g. Amarr Industrial or Battlecruiser.

So, you need to use the "show CD key" button in Steam, and then add that in your account on eveonline.com
This is something I'm also thinking of doing as I'm also on a trial! Plus, €5 for 1 month + extra goodies is awesome!
When you guys have solved this - how does it work with the Amarr Exploration pack? Is that an extra code you put into your account at eveonline.com?

So this is strange, I'm reading mixed replies here from different threads.
There is the thread I posted which is a link to Steams EVE forums, and then there is this one;

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=241642&find=unread

Where ppl say that you can't do stuff that's being said in the first thread I linked to, that you actually CAN do.
Like for ex;

That's taken from the Steam thread, and this is said in the thread located on this forum (the link above) that it's not possible

And how does it work with the item pack? Do you get a separate key for that? Or is it includeed in the key from the Steam purchase? And does the pack thing work with already existing accounts?

You make a character ingame..

I didn't read that link for some reason!
Well.. That complicates things indeed.. As for me, I'm glad I haven't played much at all so I can restart on a new account, no prob.

So, a new question for you who already bought EVE on Steam - Did you get the free trial included? Or was it only the 30 days of gametime?
So, 30 days, or 44 days of gametime included?

According to Steam Support page

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6573-GZXN-7027

If you are upgrading a trial account or have skipped this step during installation...

1. Locate Eve Online in Steam's "My Games" list and right-click the game
2. Select "Manage Game Account"
3. If upgrading a trial account please use the "Existing EVE User" button to login and complete this process

I'm brand spanking new (like literally hours new) and I'm having the same problem. I don't get those options. I downloaded, signed up for an account, but didn't know that I had to link the accounts somehow. Surely there's a way? Right now, my Steam and EVE account are... separate, I think.

I bought this game yesterday for myself and my brother through Steam. I bought for me, and I gifted it to my brother. The thing is, it works just fine for me to login with my Steam account and play, but for my brother it says "There is no Eve account associated with this Steam user" or something like that. And he is completely unable to login with through Steam on the Eve site. It just brings him back to the login screen and says "Login failed. Possible reasons can be: Please use your EVE username / password".

It seems like it doesn't recognize his Steam account owns the game because I gifted it to him or something. Which is really annoying and not a very good first impression on us. We bought it but one of us can't even log in. We submitted a petition but no answer yet.

I am having the same problems as described above. This account was made through the in-game launcher. I assumed I would create the account and my stuff would be there.

Now I got the steam account added (or something) to this account, looked like I was doing it right, and now it appears I have two accounts separated from each other. One with this character, which I like so far, and one with nothing and the account name is Steam user.

I really do want this fixed. Very disappointing. And I don't even know how Mati Pep Rep found those instructions. I found them through his link. Maybe if I had seen them somewhere prominent from SteamI could have avoided this issue. Now I'm not sure even to contact.

I found them through the Steam Support Forums. Still can't fix that..

Email from CCP.

Hello there,

Unfortunately no existing EVE accounts (even trial ones) can be merged with Steam accounts and the starter packs Steam are currently offering can only be used by creating new accounts for them. These accounts can also only be played via the Steam client. The fact that the starter pack can not be used with existing EVE accounts is clearly stated on the Steam website:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/8500/

"Notice: Monthly subscription fee required after first month. Product keys will not work with existing EVE Online accounts. Subscriptions & PLEX can only be purchased by users that own the EVE Online - Starter Pack."

If you have any other questions or if any other issues arise please update this petition.

Not to be a douch or anything, but I'd avoid this Steam business if I were you.
You should seriously consider buying from GreenManGaming instead. Not only do you get a key which you redeem on your EVE account, but it IS usable on trial accounts. Plus it's cheaper. Plus you have more packs to choose from.

The above is all bull. you can no longer do this. When you buy the game, Steam auto creates an account for you. Go and get it from GMG, that still works to upgrade a buddy trial account.

Just a question: is that 30 day starter pack from GMG only working as a first gametime purchase? Or is it a limited time offer to renew your membership?

Its for NEW / TRIAL accounts.

You cannot extend game time with it.
