I hear exploration content is more fun when it doesn't come with a guidebook to hold your hand.

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.

I hear we, as players, can't actually abide by that.

(Wait a few weeks, tops. The guides will start popping up. I'm a little surprised no one has bothered writing up something on "new" band filtering yet; it seems oddly intuitive especially if you ever tried it with cores under the old system.)

parts = decryptors/trade items, materials = components, data = data reports/bpcs

Gotten a fair share of "data reports", "fuel bateries" and "carbon" by now.

Are these as useless as they appear on first sight? Because they are plentiful :P.

They're useless. The point of the loot can swarm is to cherry pick what you want and ignore what you don't want. If you just pick things at random, your profitability will plummet in the new system. To run those sites in an effective manner you need a cargo scanner, so you see beforehand what the good loot drop items are going to be. This will allow you to focus on the specific types of cans, that can potentially contain the item you're interested in. Then you pick those cans until the item you wanted is shown in the little looting icon, that appears briefly above the cargohold icon. After that you move to another group with good loot left and if none are presetn, you move on and ignore the leftover cans.

For example if your scan reveals a faction POS module BPC and 2 decryptors, you want to focus on data cans until you see the BPC icon pop up. After that you ignore all the remaining data contaners and move on to parts cans, since they're the only ones left, that can contain anything worthwile, in this case the 2 decryptors.

Thanks for the link, very helpful. Only thing I noticed is that the "Spatial Attunement Unit" can't be exclusively found in equipment containers. I had a wreck spawned with one of those units and after unlocking it not one single equipment container popped up. Nevertheless I still got the unit (I looted parts/materials).
