Why was the Undock button removed from the toolbar?

What was the purpose of moving it? It was perfect where it was. Sometimes I just wonder if CCP actually has a reason to make a change such as this or does it just to mess with us. This was a stupid change. Is there a way to put it back on the toolbar?

That's a Templar, the Amarr fighter.
It's a combat drone used by carriers.

They change things just so they can have a big list of changes to show their boss that the game is innovating.

It's the same thing as bragging about massive playerbase gains when they don't even delete long-inactive accounts.

They moved it as it's a station service, so they moved it in with station services. Key bind undock, or right click on your ship if moving your mouse over there is too much trouble.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

I will, once Ive finished my backlog.

The Exsanguinator is jammed up with connective tissue and Ive discovered the excess blood and bile from the "sweepings" has been collecting between the gaps in the metal floor panels on my Dragoon's lower decks.

This in turn has been attracting rather large rats who sometimes get sucked into the fans of my drones when they launch, painting the drone bay an interesting shade of purple-pink.

The scrubbots cant seem to deal with organic tissue of this quantity without automatically calling the "authorities", so Ive been using slaves, but by god Minmatar have no idea how to use a mop properly.

put it back, let us move it, resize it. personally a hot-key for undocking is all that I want or need, the button is pointless and it's ugly. Now it's bigger and still ugly.

I'm all for undocking animation. I remember in 2003 when we had undocking animations. They removed it because it was broken, but 10 years later, I still miss it :)

so hoorah for the undocking animation, but do something about the button.

They made it all huge and put it next to the "Enter Captain's Quarters" to make sure you knew you could actually "Enter Captain's Quarters".

CCP has no sense of humour.

Oh no, they moved it. Boo hoo. Just remember where it is a couple of times and soon you'll be clicking it without even noticing

Its cool actually if you have young kids. No more filling cargo hold with ore and removing expanders while I'm "grieving" people by staying online when I'm at work.

So here's a legitimate reason for you.

It's part of the war on loading bars.

In getting rid of the undock loading bar they needed some new method of indication that their ship was getting ready to undock. The idea was that the undock button be animated itself, however it was far too small to have any meaningful animation that anyone could see.

So they had to make the undock button bigger, but then it no longer fit in the neocom. So to solve this i twas put in the station services and figured they'd do the same to the CQ button while thy were at it to match the theme of the undock button location.

This doubled as a fix FINALLY for the issue that would make people accidentally jump into CQ when typign in chat while docking because the default focus after docking was the CQ button. But now the CQ button is an icon button, not a UI button so it's gone \o/

It didn't have to move to serve the purpose of eliminating the loading bar: could just change colour or something to indicate the process. Then again I liked "systems check" it felt very natural that a spaceship would check systems before actually undocking not simply eject out. I'd have actually preferred some kind of traffic control on top of that, perhaps be placed in queue and given a countdown that varied depending on local traffic and the other people trying to undock at the same time.

New target lock death animation problem #1 ^ eye strain and pain Temporary workaround found to one of these.

That might be included as a more extensive animation change at a later date :D

It was mentioned that moving the ships caused the larger ones to start running into the geometry of the stations and thus was implying that they needed to change the shape of stations for this.

After said station change I could see the "system check" animation being something like a scanner that passes over the ship during which you have a chance to cancel. Then after the scan the ship starts floating out towards the passageway as you fade to black and from the black to space :D

ooooo

or better yet we can show the pod getting sealed up and/or plugged into the ship...

no no no wait

if you're just in a pod then you see yourself getting in for the animation, if you have an active ship then you see the pod getting plugged into said ship's bridge!

YES THAT, DO THAT.

and THEN show the pod/ship starting to move out tot he passageway.

I don't see why it matters where the undock button is. It's a minor change and it makes perfect sense to put it next to the other buttons when docked.

Yeah, I don't like the location of the new button, but it is a SMALL THING! Clicking on the upper right of the screen vs the lower left of the screen doesn't affect game play at all. It doesn't add or decrease functionality. It doesn't take more or fewer clicks. It is just a small change that I'll get used to.

If you must whine and complain, do it about the stuff that matters in the expansion. The stuff that is either broken, or were truly stupid ideas. And while you're at it, give CCP props for the good stuff in Odyssey.

Some kids just like to whine and complain I guess....

It matters because like many things in EVE (which aren't broken and work perfectly fine) the player database knows where this is on instinct and now we have to train our little monkey brains all over again. It's just annoying to mess with something that has been there for years and years.

It's kind of like someone hopping in your car and moving the ignition from the normal spot where you press start (or if you still use a car key) over to the glove compartment. It's just horribly placed.

And that's exactly what CCP wants you to do right? Shut up and take it. Not say anything when we don't like it because you consider it "whining". The thing was, this wasn't broken. So why mess with it (as they mess with some things) at all?
