By the same logic as nerfing the Drake: Too many people using login screen, must be overpowered!

Honestly, I'll be fine with loosing the login screen if they redesign the character selection screen to be as compelling (themed by expansion of course).


The drake wasn't nerfed, only heavy missiles were.

oh wait, are you one of the people who never used HAMs? You know, the things that actually do DPS on a drake? Those got buffed...so they actually buffed the drake, the GOOD drake that is...

They've had 13+ pages of feedback over in https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=230690
but CPP have been very silent in the face of a lot of criticism of the new launcher.

The really need to address this - if they just roll it out as mandatory on 4th June they are going to lose subscriptions!

Would YOU stop playing a game because of a crappy launcher? I wouldn't. But still this new Launcher is "not good". I liked the old way more thatn the current one.

As a pretty young character I never really had the chance to see all expansion login screens but I remember the first time I saw the login screen I went WOAH.

RIP Login Screen, perhaps they can revamp the character selection screen to make up for it.

Hell, often I would leave EVE running at the login screen whilst doing my work. There's just something about it...

This might be acceptable if it is accompanied by a great picture and soundtrack.

The login screen is still there. It's really easy to get it back. Just don't use the launcher. Problem solved.

The thing is, new players won't get the splash screen unless they know to bypass it, the experience of the game will be different, will just launch without any nice visuals into the game, it's a bit saddening.

There will be a new one for Odyssey we can see by bypassing the launcher until they take away that ability? You're a genius!

Actually, you'll have to explore and hack (see what i did there?) the .bin files in order to find it and enable it! Lol

R.I.P Login screen. I was talking about this and I just loved it... I'd sit on the login screen for a while because of the epicness.
My four favorites:

Empyrean Age
Revelation II
Apocrypha
Crucible

But I love all the logins too.

R.I.P Login + Login music, your epicness will never be forgotten and will always be loved.

What they should do is revamping the character selection panel. Just replace the old user/password box by your 3 toon face. You could even change the model of the ship on the old login screen according to the one your toon is flying/docked with.
Anyway, a lot of ways to keep this iconic screen and making it usefull for toon selection.


ps : i prefer reading news and adverts on a nice screen with music, instead of a wall-of-text launcher.

I've disabled my firewall (ESET Smart security)
I've launched the game from launcher, it tell me I'm offline while I'm reading the eve forums. cool (https btw)
So I launch the game via exefile.exe, and it tells me there is a 6mb download.
I let it download, and install. Next TIme I open the game via exefile. it points out the exact same update. almost like it did nothing to update.
Last time it did this, I wiped the game, and downloaded the full install again out of despiration. All 5GB of it. This worked. But now with the next update it does the same. Sorry, I can't download 5gb every time there is a 6mb patch.
I've tried to log petitions, but it take support a week to reply to any of my petition posts.

Should I rather suspend my account for another 6 months then try again?Evil

Well it sounds like CCP are working to kick my eve habit. The new launcher hasn't worked for me since they launched it. None of the fixes work and frankly its no loss anyway, the old login works much better from what I'm hearing from everyone.

I seriously ask you to bring back our login screens. These are vital part of the first time in game experience, when you launch Eve for the first time and you see the login screen, that momment remains in your memories. Now this launcher thing is just basic thing that every mmo has, there is not a single good reason to remove login screens to replace them with launcher.

Don't let this thread die!!

We all still want a return to the log-in screen that we all loved replete with the artwork and the soundtrack. This launcher crap sucks! Thank goodness the work-around is still working to bypass the launcher completely, but for how much longer will that remain? What will we all do when we are FORCED to use the launcher everyday??
