I cried when the EvE server went down. There was obviously no course of action other than to come to the forums and start 6 threads complaining that my life was forlorn and that I had skills on training which would run out while the server was down.

I obviously need free stuff straight away to alleviate my pain. Please CCP, supply me some fireworks!

Although I hate all the duplicate threads about Free stuff Yes/No?

I do agree with the OP.

The launcher failure was CCP's fault, so good thing they reimbursed people.
The DDoS attack was NOT CCP's fault, so I think they shouldn't compensate people.

As in another thread about not giving compensation stated:

You don't hear the whiners about giving stuff back to CCP because their downtime usually last way longer then predicted.

during the server downtimes of the last few days, i did other things, played other games and whatnot. I dont need compenstion for being unable to log in

However as a result of the server crashes i lost a ship and 210k SP due to said ship being a t3. This was in no part my fault as the server was gone, i couldnt tell my ship to go to safety, it was lagged in space and destroyed (by npcs). It is this loss that i am seeking amends for. I actually have got the ship hull back, but i am still penalised 4 days of training through absolutely no fault of my own.

Dont give me free ships or SP for the times the server was offline. But please do give back what was taken the moment the server did go

Also my loss wasnt during the ddos issue, it was before the weekend, there was a day where the hour before dt the server repeatedly dropped and there was a sticky on these forums regarding it

Ah, this old argument. The bottom line is that it’s not about having a life, or that you can do other stuff, it’s about the fact that we pay for a service.

My take on it is this. I pay a monthly subscription, for my money I expect the servers to be up outside of scheduled downtime, I expect to have the option to play the game regardless of other stuff I could do. I’m also a realist with a technical background and understand that this is an unrealistic expectation.

Therefor the crux of the matter becomes how CCP deal with unexpected downtimes, after all, keeping their customers happy is part of what a good company should do. Personally I don’t see an issue with handing out some free skill points and I don’t understand why some people are so upset by the concept. A lot of customers were irritated as they could not access a service they were paying for, CCP acknowledge this and offer some free SPs as compensation.

OP i liked your post and support this notion.

Nothing in life is free, people should stop asking for reimbursement and stuff.

In the old days we had tons of days of downtime before the Unallocated SP system and we just dealt with it.

Free stuff that doesn't cost CCP anything and in return gives them satisfied customers. They can't afford NOT to give compensation.

not entirely true. it costs man hours, which cost wages. on top of that if the compensation is 24hrs game time, that's revenue they're not getting from subscriptions etc.

nothing in this world is free, ever.

I was playing WoT. Which regardless of Eve status I would have been doing anyways.

Pretty much a golden rule for Eve, is to have a backup game. Patch days are prime example on why this is important.

i don't really see why people are that unhappy, you couldn't play for a few hours on the weekend. if that sort of thing upsets you that much i think you need to take a long hard look at your life.

Hi,

you know what I did when the server went down?

I had a great sunny day at a beach.

I came back from a great extended weekend with my kids like a 70th boss.

I watched a film with my wife.

I went relaxed to bed.

I got more than 4 hours of sleep. \o/

Downtime wasn't CCP's fault!

I don't care about free stuff.

Why does everyone feel they have the right to demand CCP to one course of action or another.

I mean does it really effect your life if people get free stuff?

Or do you feel that you have such authority that your demands should be met.

I don't really care one way or the other but I just can't believe how rude and up their own hole people are on these forums.

Don't compensate? Don't give in? GIVE IN?? really?

At the very least you should get one day of time added to your account, considering you paid for the time.

Any thing else is a bonus that is up to CCP if they are so inclined

I like using one line at a time it makes it seem like you have more to say,

Even if it is just drivel
